I just got back from shopping with one of my students and with my new neighbour and i got a bunch of Famicom games!! I went a bit overboard, but not i'm a bit pissed that i put back one of the games: i was debating getting 悪魔城伝説 (akumajou densetsu) because i wasn't sure what it was. Neither of my friends knew, and it was almost 3000 yen, so i decided no to get it. Upon checking Gamefaqs.com about a minute ago, i realized the folly of my ways -- It was freakin' Castlevania 3!! Argh!! It not only features Alucard (one of Castlevania's cooler characters) but it's also the best and last Castlevania game for the Famicom. Dammit!! (>_<) Oh well, i can grab it next time i go to that shop.
What i got was this: (all for the Famicom)
Y's
Y's 2
Rockman 3 (Mega Man 3 in North America)
Final Fantasy 3
and upon the insistance of my friend that this series is great:
Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun (a.k.a. Renegade in North America)
Nekketsu Koukou Kunio-Kun Dodgeball
My student swears that the Kunio-Kun series was not only super-popular in Japan, but it also kicks ass AND is 2-player simultaneous. Gaming Partly anyone? :-P Actually i just tried all the games out and although they all work, some of them seem a bit iffy... Well, they ARE almost 20 years old, and Cartrige format isn't the most reliable... Either way, i'm looking forward to playing the most ghetto version of Y's available!
Oh, btw Ben and Denise, i saw at the shop "Fire Emblem" (NES) and "Fire Emblem 64". Are either of those on your wishlist?
I know, i went overboard, but keep in mind that i never actually had an NES growing up. I lived vicariously through my friend all through elementary school, so this is my chance to play some games that don't need to rely solely on graphics to be good(^_-)
Ok, i'm gonna take apart my Super Famicom controller now to see if i can get the Right direction to work again. Controller Mod!! (I'm such a geek right now :-P)
