Support Access to Emergency Contraception

Aug 29, 2005 15:07

The FDA has announced that they are putting off making a final decision on the availability of Plan B (a concentrated dose of the same hormones used in regular birth control pills that can be taken after sex to prevent pregnancy if taken within 48 to 72 hours). This is especially important in cases of sexual assault, but most women are not even told about its existence in the E/R. In order to get approval of Lester Crawford's nomination to head the FDA, the White House and Mr. Crawford agreed to come to a decision by September 1st. Now, they're going back on that. If you think women should have access to birth control, please go the following web-site and add your name to the petition.
