Doe-eyed
This is another one of those phrases
that falls apart upon examination
Not an eyebrow raises
when you have some dark and sylvan
girl with her lustrous clavicles
and doe-eyed gaze.
Deer, they don't blink much,
and are given to standing stupidly,
in the middle of the interstate,
or bounding blithely through the raspberries.
Doe-eyed, pie-eyed, moon-eyed,
it's not very flattering.
So you keep your doe-eyed girls,
with willow-like droop
and unblinking stare,
and I'll take the ones whose spines
are supported by muscle, and whose eyes
look everywhere.
