Whee!

So I am temporarily caught up at work, and last night I took some time to quilt. First, I had the nervous breakdown. Then I trimmed down all my scrappy star points so they were roughly the same size. Then I sewed a seam. Then I realized I had run out of bobbin thread. Then I sewed the same seam. And realized I'd forgotten to rethread the needle. Then I sewed the same seam. And realized it was crooked, so I ripped it out. Then I sewed it crooked again.

Yeah, like that.

But I got them all put together, and went to bed at midnight. At 1 AM, Kay woke up, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. She nursed while I pulled out about a cubic foot of paper scraps. This is the obvious downside of paper-piecing.

So now all I have left to do is
1) Sew two halves of back star together
2) Starch back star
3) Insert setting triangles and squares (the dreaded Y-seams)
4) Make corner posts for front and back
5) Buy, wash, and cut two remaining fabrics
6) Make piping
7) Assemble borders

If I get all that done before Wednesday, I can take my quilt to the Basting Bee. And I have to make a determination mid-Tuesday, because if I'm not going to make that, then I need to finish up K.'s quilt and take that instead. Although if it comes to that, I may just stay home, because we have babysitting problems on Wednesday.

Still. I am pleased that I have so (relatively) little left to do.

It was very nice to do something non-computer related.
