Sad little meeting

Jan 23, 2009 15:33

Today, I scheduled an afternoon meeting. Me and the dev lead and the UI guy. I scheduled it for 1:30. In a totally typical occurance, no one picked up until 1:44.

Me: Hey, remember how I said we were going to single-source the admin guide into help?
Them: Noooo?
Me: Well, I'm not going to, because what you already have is awesome!
Them: Ok?
Me: However, it could use a little editing loving touch, so can I have access?
Them: You'd DO that?
Me: Um, yes? It's kind of my job?
UI dude: Yes. I was going to rebuild everything out of toothpicks and write a parser, but there are 600 pages, and no one will give me time.
Me: Well, that would be good, but let's start with editing the English of what we already have. 7.1 is only a couple months away.
Dev lead: That's great! I really appreciate how you pitch in.
Me: 0.0 ..... Um, glad to help. It's what you hired me for.

I think it is well-nigh TRAGIC that they are surprised by this level of service. I was feeling bad that it took me this long to get to this (it was low-priority because it was mostly ok, and not currently on fire).
