It is a balmy summer evening, full of magic and mystery, and the gates to the Palace of Storms have been thrown open. The lord of this towering castle, perched high amongst howling winds and rocky hills, looming over the fertile southern fields of the Kingdom of Alshen, has decreed a ball to be held upon this night. Here shall gather kings and queens, princes and princesses. Here shall lurk secrets and disguises, love and sorcery. And here they shall revel, waited upon by invisible servants, until the stroke of midnight. And upon the stroke of midnight, who knows what strange wishes shall come true?
A Crown of Hearts is a fairy-tale evening for sixteen players, full of passion, drama, adventure, and metamorphosis. This game deals with some disturbing themes and dark subject matter, and is recommended for mature players.
This is the game that I'm writing right now, and hope to premiere at some point this summer, because there aren't nearly enough games running in the season. A few other notes about various questions and concerns...
- If all goes well, I'll be finishing this game in May. Especially if it is running later in the summer, I should definitely be able to get you complete sheets well before the game. The only way I could see week-of-game-character-sheet-fail happening is if it runs particularly early in the summer (late June) and if something holds me up noticeably with the writing (I wind up moving sooner than expected, I get sick, that sort of thing.)
- Whether it runs on a Saturday or a Sunday, I'll probably be going for a late afternoon to early evening runtime. (So something like 3-7 pm or 4-8 pm.) This is supposedly a standard 4-hour game; of course, it might run a little shorter or longer, depending. Predicting runtime is not one of my GM strengths. There will probably be some sort of dead dog afterwards, for those interested.
- I'd like to be able to run this at Brandeis, but getting space in the summer can be a bit tricky. That's part of why I'd like to get some potential run dates ASAP, so I can space-hunt. If not Brandeis, then somewhere Boston area and, I hope, at least somewhat T-accessible.
- Speaking of which, unless this game is a complete and utter disaster, I *will* be re-running it, most likely within a year.
