I do not even categorize it as "whitesplaining" or "mainsplaining" - it's just "splaining".
The most recent occurrence. There is someone on my Facebook account (I hate the term 'friend') who proceeds to comment on my posts, multiple times, about how "language" works, or things from a "behavioral" perspective. Or issues of gender
Little backstory.
I have five degrees, one of which is a master's in Sociology, and another a graduate certificate in Gender studies.
I am a doctoral candidate (ABD) in a program titled "Language, Literacy, and Culture"
In other words, not the person you lecture on issues of language, gender, or cultural behavior. I've had over 30 courses...just in those topics!
AND...AND... this person *knows* this, yet he still feels the need to "splain" to me.
This isn't a case of someone who is ignorant of my bona fides trying to take a time to "educate" me (oh and...by the way...he's kinda wrong on all the stuff). It's someone who knows...and doesn't care.
Irritating, no?
