“What do you think?”

Fernando looked up and ran his eyes over Sergio’s body before hesitating, “Um...”

His suit was purple. There was no other way to describe it.

Fernando had stumbled across purple suits before and he knew that some of them could be nice, especially the ones that were so dark that they almost looked black. But this suit wasn’t black or even close to black, it was electric purple and so bright it almost hurt his eyes. It could have worked, if it wasn’t for the pinstripes.... or the yellow tie... or the dirty beat up converse that Fernando was sure Sergio had stolen from his own wardrobe.

Sergio was an absolute car wreck when it came to fashion. He had a tendency to pick out bits and pieces of clothing that he liked and then team them together in the worst possible combinations. He had a closet full of odd patterns, obscure colours, weird shapes and bizarre fits that any reasonable sales assistant would be horrified to let him out of the dressing room in. Most of the time Fernando found his odd tastes endearing, but this suit... wow... it was so bloody awful!

Sergio looked down at himself and held out the lapels of his jacket before looking back up with boyish innocence, “do you like it?”

“Well...” Fernando began awkwardly, “it’s um...”

“It’s okay,” he assured him with a smile, “I won’t be offended.”

Fernando let out a sigh and rolled his eyes before admitting, “I hate your suit. It looks like a grape exploded all over you”

Sergio considered his words for a moment before nodding, “that’s okay. I don’t like your suit either.”

Fernando’s mouth dropped and he looked down at his simple black tux. This was his staple tux; it was appropriate for every occasion and comfy as hell. “What’s wrong with it?” he demanded.

“Your suit?” Sergio asked. He pretended to consider it before, “too boring. It’s all black and corporate looking; that suit could belong to anyone in the city. It has no personality. You could lose that suit and you’d never see again because every second man owns the exact same one.” He paused and smiled, “my suit has personality.”

Fernando blinked. Personality? “Serg, what the hell are you talking about? You can’t wear that, the invitation says black tie.”

He held out an arm and protested, “It has black pinstripes.”

Giving up, Fernando pushed past him and grabbed Sergio’s simple black Hugo Boss suit from his closet and held it out for him. “Put this on.”

Sergio pulled a face and opened his mouth to protest.

“You can keep the yellow tie,” Fernando bargained reluctantly.

Sergio grinned and grabbed the suit, “done. Pleasure doing business with you.”

Bastard, Fernando mused internally, he had probably only donned the purple suit to ultimately get away with wearing the yellow tie.
