Because I'm somewhat braindead...

...this will be short. Brevity is also due to pain and stiffness in my hands, wrists, etc. Yes, I've been naughty lately and have not used proper typing/mousing form so the old carpal tunnel is flaring up again. :) So nice ( Read more... )

First, serious stuff - I had no idea you got RSI. That's really bad!! I hope you rest your hands otherwise your tag will be: "I LJ'd so much I got RSI!"

Secondly, the variety in this post made me choke. From Honkie pop stars, gay cowboys, Dickens, San Franciscan singer song writers who are former programmers to Rome. :) Hee.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Nicholas song. I forced a friend (non-Nick fan ;) to download the clip so that he could translate the Cantonese for me. It was a genuine surprise - Eason was supposed to be filming a movie and showed up unexpectedly which is why Nicholas probably sang it so simply. You notice he just did a harmony instead of any solo bits?

The Vienna Teng song is here at the forum on her official site but I'm just downloading it now. The forum's moderated by her best friend Eric and also Vienna's very cool about mp3s so it seems to be a 'legal' mp3. I have to remember to monitor her forum more regularly because there are so many good bits - like she sang 'On the turning away' by Pink Floyd at one point.

I can't wait to watch Bleak House. I think I might get it when I'm back in Australia and watch it there. That might be the case with Rome as well. I have the season 1 dvds sitting here unwatched. If I manage to get through Scrubs then I'll watch Rome. There's so much good stuff to watch!!

Take care of your hands! Do not reply to this post :)

When I posted it, it didn't even occur to me, but you're right, I'm certainly all the the place. :) This is so "me," though - these are the things that I was excited about this morning, and all at the same time! Haha! Being inside my head is a bit of a blender/rollercoaster experience for the anyone who does not possess whiplashing-inducing interests! Dont' try this at home, kids!

Actually, this reminds me that when I was in university, I worked at the college radio station (a very small, humble affair - we barely had over-air transmission because our transmitter was so pathetic) as a DJ for 3 years (by the end I was program director, an extremely unenviable job). I'm not very good at the improvisational dialogue part about being a DJ, but I loved to play music, the more eclectic the better. Eventually I teamed up with a friend of mine who loved Art Deco everything, and had an amazing speaking voice - he sounded just like a broadcaster should, and he was funny and interesting and full of great stories.

So - between us, we played a Very Eclectic selection of music. I took endless pleasure in pairing his Judy Garland or Tony Bennett with my Metallica or Tool. And then throw in some Rush or Marillion and then some show tunes, or some Enya or Loreena McKennitt or Sarah McLachlan or some celtic instrumental music against techno or Queensryche. It was bizarro world, for sure. The stranger the contrast, the better, and we were both hugely amused. Of course we didn't really care what anyone thought, and we could get away with it since the only policy was to keep it clean. I'm sure it must have been quite a muddle to listen to, though!

So Nicholas Tse is a pop star as well as an actor, hmm? I did notice that he mostly harmonized and that's what impressed me even more, because I'm terrible at that. So I always admire people who can do it (even though doing it is fairly common amongst singers).

Bleak House is incredibly good. The first hour-long ep is well, bleak and has the task of setting everything up, but still, it does suck you in. The rest of the eps are only 30 mins, so it's not a killer time investment, either. Time well spent!! Wish it was longer!
