Today we are a bit scattered

Oct 26, 2006 10:09

Ha! Yes, the royal "we." Today is a real grab-bag.

1. Yeterday, Neil Gaiman linked to 'Wired' Magazine's six word short short story collection in which they asked many different writers for submissions...the collection is fascinating!

2. The slightly absurd: Wanna watch alien tv?

3. I was reading some Japanese poetry this morning. Which always makes me feel like sharing:

In the Autumn Mountains
The colored leaves are falling.
If I could hold them back,
I could still see her.

Aki yama ni
Otsuru momiji ba
Shimashiku wa
Na chiri midare so
Imo ga atari minu

-Hitomaro

Will I cease to be,
Or will I remember
Beyond the world,
Our last meeting together?

Arazaramu
Kono yo no hoka no
Omoide ni
Ima hito tabi no
Au koto mogana

-Lady Izumi Shikibu

I go out of the darkness
Onto a road of darkness
Lit only by the far off
Moon on the edge of the mountains.

Kuraki yori
Kuraki michi ni zo
Irinu beki
Haruka ni terase
Yama no hi no tsuki

- Izumi

When I am lonely
And go for a walk, I see
Everywhere the same
Autumnal dusk.

Sabishisa ni
Yado wo tachi ide
Nagamureba
Izuku mo onaji
Aki no yuugure

- The Monk Ryoozen

You do not come, and I wait
On Matsuo beach
In the calm of the evening.
And like the blazing
Water, I too am burning.

Konu hito wo
Matsuo no ura no
Yuunagi ni
Yaku ya moshio no
Mi mo kogare tsutsu

- Fujiwara no Sadaie

She said she would come
At once, and so I waited
Till the moon rose
In the October dawn.

Ima komu to
Iishi bakari ni
Naga tsuki no
Ari ake no tsuki
Wo machi izuru kana

- The Monk Sosei

Autumn has come invisibly.
Only the wind's voice is ominous.

Aki kinu to
Me ni wa sayaka ni
Miene domo
Kaze no oto ni zo
Odorokarenuru

-Toshiyuki

Now to meet only in dreams,
Bitterly seeking,
Starting from sleep,
Groping in the dark
With hands that touch nothing.

Ime no ai wa
Kurushikarikeri
Odorokite
Kaki saguredomo
Te ni mo furenba

- Yakamochi

Kame on Oshareism
I really, really loved Kame's guest spot on Oshareism. There were so many cute moments, but one of my favorites was the one that seems to have grossed a lot of people out - the eating of the live or nearly live or barely dead...squid. It's quite dramatic - the chef takes the live squid from a tank at the table, slices it and serves it, all in about one minute. The squid is still moving on the platter, it looks like! However, for me, I was just fascinated by Kame's enjoyment of the squid (which is apparently his favorite sushi). His face betrays his gastronomic pleasure, and as some of you know, I'm a bit of a foodie, and I adore the sensuality of watching people enjoy delicious things. Kame is so cute as he holds one hand over his mouth while he eats, but the way his eyes close - twice as he savors the squid. Mmmmm. That left me with a huge smile. Yes, I know that I'm weird.

I love it when he laughs. :)

What a goof!

I think this might have been the dead cockroach part...

Aaaaand, here it is, the eating of the squid.

The tentacle getting stuck to the top of his mouth was hilarious! But check out his eyes...poor Kame needs to get a lot more rest.

iPod files
Yes,I converted a few more files. I've uploaded on the off-chance that anyone is interested.

-"[NTV Oshare-ism] 2006-10-22 guest Kamenashi Kazuya.mp4 - I had to convert this for my iPod so I could wallow in the Kame cuteness! Thanks to altiui for the original file.

-LOOKing_CON_-_2005[1].06.26_-_Kame_-_Hanasanaide_Ai.mp4 Thanks to kt_kitt for uploading this yesterday here at kame_share! I love this song so much. :) ETA: I find it hilarious that this performance ends with the reprise of "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. So bombastic!

-UTAWARA 20061022-5 (5m30s).mp4 - this is the now infamous "Miracle" performance with the cute Akame moment. I'm totally blanking on who uploaded this...

Post-nasal drip is still persecuting me, but fortunately, the congestion didn't get worse overnight. Still, it feels like I'm breathing with a weight on my chest! Now I'm off to suck down some more green tea. Happy Thursday, everyone! You know what's sad? I keep thinking that today is Friday. And everytime I realize that it is STILL only Thursday, it's a rude shock.
