prompts: drabbles and fic

I gleefully asked for fic from suchdisguise when suchdisguise put up a request for prompts with the condition that if I request something, then I should, in all fairness, let other people request things off me too. (Which yeah. I'm going to attempt and fail another fic meme, but feel free to laugh at me while I try ( Read more... )

hikaru no go/inception crossover part 2/? wintersjuly October 15 2010, 13:31:20 UTC
as i said, you're getting them LITERALLY as i write them alkjfjkljsfkl (also this is stealth arthur/eames. TOTALLY UNINTENTIONAL, I PROMISE)

Arthur wants to refuse. He really wants to refuse. It would involve weeks and months of preparation and research (even if Eames had done some of Arthur’s work for him. It’s not even his damned job) and Arthur would have to fucking learn how to play a whole new complicated board game from scratch (Arthur is thorough; it’s the reason why Cobb is back with his kids and not drowning in a ditch courtesy of hicksvilleneses from Bumtown) and he’d have to brush up on his high school Japanese and he hates Japan when he has to be in the country. It's kind of like seeing a Monet - always better at a distance.

He hates how crowded it always is, hates how everyone is connected more to technology than each other, hates how time speeds up instead of slows down and he hates that Eames has all but talked Ariadne into it already with his little speech. Fucking Eames and his people reading skills.

Abruptly, because he’s really curious, he asks, “How did Saito get you on board?”

“Oh Arthur,” says Eames, face soft with pity. “You still don’t get it?”

Arthur takes the damned job.

(Besides, Saito asked. When Saito asks how high, Arthur is sure Saito has people to calculate just how high and what bridge to jump off that will be of maximum effectiveness.)
