A/N:
The story kept changing in my mind while writing… and even got to a smut at one point but became this in the end. I was watching Donghae’s diary in Super Junior Show and came across a scene I could not ignore. And I still don’t know if I like Eunhae better than Haehyuk but either way, I hope you enjoy!

“Eunhyuk!!!!”
Eunhyuk swore his heart had skipped a beat then, nearly tripping over his feet at the loud call that greeted him the moment he opened the front door. Eeteuk had remained in the lift of which the door had been just about to close, but slammed the open button, frowning.
“Eunhyuk?” Eeteuk asked, his whole body visibly in the protective leader mode, and Eunhyuk looked up to see who had almost burst his eardrum. But the irritated scowl soon dissolved away when he saw who stood in front of him and waved his hand at Eeteuk.
“Don’t worry, hyung. It’s-“
“Quick, Eunhyuk, hurry!” Came the excited shouts once more and this time, Eeteuk apparently realized who it was as well because just before he got pulled into the dorm, Eunhyuk saw him rolling his eyes with a smile, pushing the close button lazily.
“Quick, quick!”
Eunhyuk was barely given enough time to take his shoes off before he was more dragged than pulled to his room and though he didn’t know what this was about, he couldn’t help but grin widely as the endless energy and excitement from the other started to infect him.
Only once they were in his room was he finally let go and he watched in amused confusion as the door was slammed shut and his bouncy boyfriend turned around with eyes sparkling expectantly. Eunhyuk raised his brow; he was sure it was not their anniversary today and Christmas was still a month away.
“Donghae, what is it? What’s going on?”
Donghae only flashed his innocent smile before he pushed Eunhyuk down onto the floor, his hands on his shoulders. It was more of an instinct that Eunhyuk resisted it at first but when a pout started to appear on Donghae’s face, he rolled his eyes and gave in, kneeling down. The simple action returned the joyful smile back to Donghae and when Eunhyuk looked up at him questioningly, Donghae put a hand out, his palm facing up, and said-
“Hand!”
“…What?”
“Hand!”
Eunhyuk frowned. Something about this whole situation seemed vaguely familiar but not clear enough for him to put his finger on.
“Eunhyuk,” Donghae whined, looking more like a put out puppy than angry, “I said hand!”
Eunhyuk opened his mouth to ask what the hell this was about but gave up on it when he saw the expression on his boyfriend’s face. How Donghae ended up topping him when he was the one looking so damn cute, he would never know. …Actually, he did. Nobody won against Donghae; not even Heechul. How could anyone against the most disarming smile the human history had seen?
Anyhow, giving up on the idea of protesting, Eunhyuk instead slowly put his hand on the offered one, A satisfied chuckled followed the contact before Donghae took his hand away, only to put out his other hand, and once more said, “hand!”
Sighing, Eunhyuk obediently put his other hand on Donghae’s. It was definitely ringing a bell in his mind but… what was it?
“Good boy,” Donghae said with a pat over Eunhyuk’s hair, and then suddenly bent down to meet Eunhyuk’s startled eyes at level. There was the usual smile plastered over Donghae’s face but Eunhyuk wasn’t getting fooled. An alarm bell was going off in his mind. He knew Donghae was certainly up to something; he didn’t know what but he knew it involved him. Suddenly getting nervous, Eunhyuk gulped. Last time Donghae had, uh, got an idea, he had been confined to Donghae’s bed for hours. With Donghae, of course. Other members were considerate enough not to ask about his limping for the next few days.
“Close your eyes,” Donghae instructed and Eunhyuk knew his eyes were now full of silent plead, because he was already tired enough and he had an early start tomorrow as well. But all Donghae did in response was look a little more stern this time, and Eunhyuk knew it was already a lost cause.
“Fine,” Eunhyuk mumbled, closing his eyes, but he tried his luck again, “but Donghae, can we do this tomorrow? I promise, tomorrow, we can do whatever you want. I’ve got a free day after that so…??”
Eunhyuk’s desperate plead came to a sudden halt when he felt something closing around his neck. It felt like… a necklace…? No, it was too tight. A… chocker? Like the one Heechul used to wear? But the material did not feel like fabric; more like… leather. And there was some sort of metal at the front, the coldness raising goosebumps on his neck.
“Donghae?”
“Open your eyes! Eunhyuk, you look so cute!!!”
The first thing Eunhyuk saw was Donghae grinning like a maniac - seriously - and the utter joy in those puppy-like eyes. Donghae seemed all but ready to smother him to death, and curious of what was around his neck, Eunhyuk shifted his gaze to the standing mirror just to a side of his ecstatic boyfriend behind him; and his eyes bulged.
“What the… Donghae, is this… what… Donghae, don’t tell me this is a dog collar!” Eunhyuk spluttered, wondering if Donghae had finally lost his marbles. Around his neck was, indeed, a dog collar; a bright red leather strap with browned metal clasp and a silver anchovy-shaped - where the hell did get an anchovy-shaped one?! - name tag dangling at the front. However, contrary to the disbelief in Eunhyuk’s voice, Donghae was laughing like a 5 years old child who had got his most wanted present from Santa Claus.
“Eunhyuk!! You’re my puppy!!”
“What?? Donghae, get it- mmph!”
“You promised that you’d be my puppy for me!!” Donghae chuckled into his ear, engulfing him in a bear hug just as Eunhyuk had suspected, and the penny finally dropped.
‘Eunhyuk, you had promised to be my puppy!’
‘I said I would if there weren’t any other dogs.’
‘Eunhyuk!’
‘Oh, fine.’
“Donghae, have you been watching your diary in Super Junior Show?” Eunhyuk asked, pulling his face away a little from Donghae’s shoulder before he suffocated. It earned him somewhat rough ruffles of his hair, messing up his hairstyle, but Eunhyuk found himself unable to get angry. His schedule for the day was over anyway and the memories of the past days were flooding back in, making him feel warm inside.
“You promised, Eunhyuk,” Donghae beamed down at him, “and now you’ve got a proof that you’re mine. You’re my puppy monkey.”
“What am I, a hybrid?” Eunhyuk muttered in half-hearted discontent but when Donghae hugged him tightly once more, enveloping him in his warmth, his merry laughter, his fresh scent, in Donghae, there was no use fighting against it and he simply melted into the loving embrace.
“Fine, fine. A monkey, a puppy, a hybrid, I’ll be whatever you want me to be.”
Donghae chuckled, moving his hands to hold Eunhyuk’s pouting face in them. Their gazes locked instantly and it took less than 3 seconds for Eunhyuk’s lips to start twitching before blowing up in an ear-to-ear grin. Mirroring it, Donghae brushed his thumb across the warm lips as he bent down lower, pressing his lips against the welcoming plumpness.
“Because an anchovy cannot live without the sea, right?”
He was an anchovy now, was he? Eunhyuk shrugged. Who cared what he was? All that mattered was that he was Donghae’s and was now properly claimed. Wrapping his arms around Donghae’s neck, he leaned into the kiss, feeling his body growing hot as the fun was slowly replaced with something more intense, and when Donghae’s hand slipped in under his shirt, Eunhyuk had all but forgotten about tomorrow’s schedule.
He did remember one thing though; he needed to do some extensive internet search tomorrow. After all, he had never heard of how to name tag a fish.
