I am so amused right now...
You know those things when you're browsing the internet. Clean up your PC this, fix errors that.. it's all nice and good. I ended up going to www.errorfix.com just for the fun of it. As usual, you have those awards on the panel, 5 star rating software from Tucows, Geardownload.com, Softpedia. Yet when you look on those websites to find the product back.. it's either not there, or not rated.
So! I saw this option of having a live chat with an "ErrorFix" agent. For shits and giggles, I went there, pretending to be a potential customer named Christopher. Afterall, you need to pay to use this fantastic product! But it's just so confusing that I can't find any reviews about this product!
This is how the conversation went:
Chat Information - Please wait for a site operator to respond.
Chat Information - You are now chatting with 'Adam'
Adam: Welcome to our live chat service!
Adam: Hello. How may I assist you?
Christopher: Hello, this is for ErrorFix, right?
Adam: yes
Adam: may i ask you the exact problem
Christopher: Well I don't have the product, but I was looking over your main website.
Christopher: It has the ratings of Tucows and Geardownload.com and such, but I wasn't able to find those scores back on their site. I wanted to look for reviews about this product
Christopher: How is it possible I can't find your product back on these sites?
Adam: ErrorFix can diagnose and remove or repair the invalid references that cause computer malfunctions. These include slowed performance, invalid shortcuts, confusing windows messages and even blue screens. All within a few minutes. For more information click on the link below:
Adam:
http://www.errorfix.com/ Adam: You can purchase the program by clicking on the link below:
Adam:
http://www.errorfix.com/buy1.php (( This is where I had Firefox block me two pop-ups, likely those above links ))
Adam: may i ask your email address?
Christopher: Would you be able to answer my question aswell?
Adam: The software is approved by Microsoft
Adam: You do not need any other software if you have this one.
Adam: This is one of the best softwares in the industry right now. We even give you remote support to make sure you are never infected by any kind of error or virus
Christopher: Alright, Adam. That's fair enough. Yet I do am confused about why I can't find your product on Tucows, and the product is unscored on GearDownload.com. Can you help me out on that?
Adam: Please give me a moment. I am checking to see what best can be done
Christopher: Alright, thank you
(( 30 minutes later ))
Adam: For more information click on the link below:
Adam:
http://www.errorfix.com/ (( Another pop-up block ))
Christopher: Adam, do you remember what my question was?
(( 10 minutes later ))
Adam: Please hold one moment
Christopher: Alright.
Adam: Please check this link
Adam:
http://www.geardownload.com/search.php Christopher: Yes, I looked at their search and was able to find your product. However, it has a star rating of 0/0, which confuses me since it is supposed to have 5 according to your main page.
Christopher: You can see it here:
http://geardownload.com/system/errorfix.html Adam: All orders are backed by our unconditional 60-day Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are unhappy with your purchase, for any reason, simply contact us via e-mail within 60 days for a full refund. If you are simply having trouble and you want some help, let us try to fix your problems.
Adam: You can rest assured knowing that we will get your computer back to its original state and running like new.
Adam: There website may not be updated
Christopher: Well the last update was on 1st of November 2008. It would surprise me if during these 9 months nobody would've noticed this. And it also doesn't explain why your product isn't on Tucows either
Christopher: Are your award logos genuine?
(( Another 15 minutes pass ))
Adam: Please check the above given link
Christopher: I'm sorry, Adam. But you're not really helpful
Christopher: I'm trying to find a product that will help my computer, found your product, but it raised more questions about the honesty of your website. You seem to avoid my question, aren't able to give me a straight answer, and talk around the subject. Can you aknowledge that, from my point of view, Adam?
Adam: Please hold one moment
Adam: Christohper,I assure you our program is genuine one and we have been into this business for the last 5years and if you are not satisfied with our program you will be refunded within 60days of purchase
Christopher: I don't doubt your program is genuine, I'm more worried about the award logos. They feel like being randomly put there to praise your product, misleading customers like me. Can you give me an honest answer as to why I cannot find the product back on Tucows or find the score on GearDownload, please?
Adam: If there is any doubt in your mind, you may visit the Microsoft Certified Software page (link below) and see our application listed as a trusted Certified Microsoft application. Microsoft would never certify a questionable software and list them on their own website. You can verify for yourself here
Adam:
https://winqual.microsoft.com/member/softwarelogo/certifiedlist.aspx Christopher: True, I don't doubt that from Microsoft. But again, it isn't about Microsoft's logo, nor that of Softpedia or McAfee. It is the ratings given by Tucows and GearDownload that question my mind.
Adam: We will check about the ratings with Tucows and Geardownload websites
Christopher: That would be best for you yes.
Christopher: I for one am not convinced enough and will look for a different product instead
Adam: I request you to try our program once and if you are not satisfied you can ask for refund
Christopher: I'm sorry but no. This conversation already took 2 hours about a simple question you weren't able to fully answer. I'd rather not risk spending money on your product and have such a slow progress on getting a refund when I'm not satisfied
Adam: you can try purchasing our software
Christopher: Still, I hope you are able to make many other customers happy
Adam: We make sure that you're covered in case of any problems with our software; our Livechat technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even on holidays. Our superior tech support staff will work around the clock until we get your computer running like new.
Adam: If necessary, we can even remotely login to your computer and perform system maintenance while you sit back and watch.
Adam: If in the end, you are simply not satisfied, we will happily refund your money.

Yadda yadda, I just quitted there. It was just getting ridiculous now. The entire conversation took over 2 hours, close to 2,5! It's just that bad!
More amusingly, I checked out their FAQ and copied the first line of explanation and searched on Google. Seems to be a direct copy-pasta from an article of a genuine computer magazine!
I just love the fact how the guy kept pressing me the product in the face, saying it's all awesome and perfect, and that I can buy it instantly too! Wow! And he asked for my email address! But what about my question? Total ignore! They want my moneys and sell my email address to third companies! =D
