Dear Arizona Political Campaign Managers:

I know that the Arizona primary election is 26 days away. I know that early voting starts next week. I know you're eager to get your candidates' issue statements and endorsements out there, and I know that radio and TV advertising is expensive (though I note that that's not stopping any of you - right now, about 75% of the ads I hear on talk radio are for political candidates).

But I have received political mailers in every post this week. I no longer answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. I know which candidates I'm voting for, and, basically, you have about a 1 in 5 shot that the one you're calling to promote is on my list. Furthermore, we're carefully choosing how we're going to allocate our political contributions, and, unless you're campaigning for J.D. Hayworth, your candidate isn't on the list for the primary.

At least I don't live in my parents' Congressional district, where their incumbent is retiring and they have no fewer than TEN candidates on the primary ballot. So they've been BOMBARDED with mailers and calls.

So, can we STOP with the calls and mailers, already? I can't do anything about the radio ads except turn them off (which I've started to do).

And, while we're at it, can we get the AZ Electoral Commission to close the primary? Why should someone get to vote in any primary they want to just by refusing to affiliate themselves? What benefit do those of us who are affiliated get by doing so?

Thank you for your attention.
