We went to see the glorious Sarah last night. Super-cool show, and a really nifty set. And she didn't even dress like a lunatic that much, other than the
previously posted insanity (which is, in real life, even more awe-inspiring that the photos indicate - for one thing, it has a back that features an enormous tulle bow). One of the wacky things about this part of the show was that she wound up singing with a tenor who was dressed in a suit with an open-collared shirt. Like a normal person, in other words, which just heightened the sheer magnitude of the crazy.
The show was good, though. She sang the actual "Phantom of the Opera" duet, which I haven't heard her do in many, many years. Hit the "E" at the end, too (I used to be able to hit the E. Now, I'm lucky if I can hit the B below high C. Sigh.) She did a lot of stuff from past albums - I think that it's because this one wasn't her best effort, but I liked hearing some of the older songs.
Now, you'd think that someone who was a trained dancer would do more moving about than just waving her arms around, but maybe that's just me.
I'd recommend that everyone go and see her, but this was the last show of the North American portion of the tour, so, unless you're one of the few people on my FL NOT in North America, you won't be able to. Alas. Fantastic music, a really great set, and some utter sartorial insanity - what more can anyone ask for out of a musical evening?
