I want another kitty.
I'm ready for another cat. I'd like a young cat - possibly a kitten, possibly full-grown. Definitely male (I grew up with female cats and have since discovered how much more interesting males are). I want an AFFECTIONATE cat. Rex doesn't like to be picked up, and won't curl up on a lap.
Wally's affectionate but he has to stay in his room because of his litterbox issues. (Not only does he have litterbox issues, but one of those issues is his use of litterbox as bed. HE HAS TWO OTHER BEDS, but he likes the litterbox for reasons wholly unknown to me.)
I would like to get this other cat BEFORE we have a baby. There are schools of thought that say get it AFTER so that the baby is already part of the family before the cat arrives, but then there are the adoption organizations that will not adopt so young a cat to a home that has a baby.
My mother had two cats when she had me - both of them younger than Rex is now. Both also female.
Just musing. I adore Rex, of course. I just wish he'd curl up on my lap and let me pick him up. Joe doesn't want to get another cat, period, but he might be persuaded AFTER the extremely elderly Wally dies.
The pound here is having an unusually heavy kitten season. I'd like to help them out...
