Finn's weird foggy feeling didn't really get better as the minutes of their last day in high school passed slowly. He was sitting in the choir room, half listening to the glee clubbers talk about stuff that needed to be perfect for tonight's performance - the costumes, the dance moves, the tiny details. He did his best to avoid any contact with Mr. Schue..

"No, not Mr. Schue anymore. Will. It's Will now," he told himself in his mind.

Even calling him by his first name felt somehow wrong, but he couldn't help smiling when he silently whispered the name inside is head. Will. W-i-l-l. Then he shook off the smile on his face and concentrated on trivial things. Like which sneakers he was gonna wear tonight, or if he should ask for a ride to the house party. He felt Will's eyes on him every now and then, even caught him staring at him with a worried face once. But Will never said anything. He just did what he always did with this group that had become almost like a family - he was being a great teacher, listening to every opinion carefully but also being at the lead of the conversation at the same time.

Finn snapped out of his thoughts as the humming and singing and loud conversation stopped, and as the others started to get up and collect their bags and things. He wasn't even sure why he had stayed in the first place. He convinced himself it wasn't because he didn't want to lose a single second of the time he had left in the company of Will. He convinced himself it was Rachel that he really wanted to spend time with. To see if he still wanted her back, if she wanted him back. To know if there were any feelings left whatsoever. They'd been back and forth for all this time and never gotten anywhere.

Right now, all Finn could think about was this nagging feeling he had in the back of his head - that maybe he was lying to himself about being interested in Rachel. Or about not being interested in anything that Mr Sch.. Will did. But he was also very good at it - lying to himself about these feelings (that were so not there) he had discovered just a couple of hours earlier. Hours! It seemed so ridiculous. How could anyone develop a crush on a person they'd known for years just like that?

They were all slowly dragging their feet out of the classroom, disappearing into the hallway one by one, and Finn was torn. He wanted to stay behind so badly, to come up with an excuse to linger there with Will for as long as he could. On the other hand he just wanted to run out and never look back. To get through tonight's show and to get drunk with the guys. To hook up with some hot, random GIRL whose name he didn't know. He was just about to step out of the choir room with Rachel when he noticed he'd left his jacket on a chair at the back of the room. He turned around and went to pick it up, and when he turned around he realized he had done it on purpose. He was alone with Will now, and with this silence he could only describe as loud. After an hour of non-stop singing and talking, it was like the time had stopped and the absolute silence had fell upon them like a white blanket. It seriously freaked him out. Like all the walls around him were trying to pressure him into filling this silence with words.

It took all the courage for Finn to look up at Will. He held the jacket in his hands squeezing it a bit too tightly, staring at it like he couldn't decide if it really was his. But as he looked up, he only saw Will putting away a few notebooks, then turning back to him and smiling.

"It's gonna be a great show, right?" Will asked casually and kept smiling. Finn tried to mimic the smile, and managed to get a crooked grin on his face, desperately hoping it would pass as a relaxed expression.

"Yeah.. I sure hope so," he said quietly and tried to move his legs. He couldn't, and the moment of nothing happening felt like an eternity. He standing there, Will looking at him with a light confused frown. Every single thought he had had until then just suddenly disappeared and all he could do was to give another dorky smile to Will, then force himself to move toward the door. He had the sudden urge to ask Will about tonight and what he was planning to do after the performance, but just as he opened his mouth to say it out loud, he heard Rachel's familiar, chipper voice bellowing from the hallway. He silently sent a thank you prayer to Grilled Cheesus for being interrupted.

"Finn, come on! My dads are waiting, we have to go!" the voice announced.

"Yeah they're like, just giving me a ride home. So, umm, bye.. Will," Finn said out loud and didn't really know why he had to explain leaving with Rachel. It was not like it mattered what Will thought about it. He hurried out without looking back, passing Rachel standing outside the doorway with a huge crazy grin on her face.

---

Rachel noticed it again. They'd been singing for a minute - another song this time - practising the runs with Mercedes, when Mr. Schue's gaze suddenly drifted off. The encouraging smile he'd put on for them just seconds earlier suddenly faded, and he was looking at Finn's direction. Yes, Rachel's on-and-off boyfriend had been acting weird since they'd filled up the choir room, but Rachel was pretty sure he was just pre-occupied by this being the last day of high school and all. She was a bit annoyed that Mr. Schue's attention was directed at Finn and not at her. After all, it was the last chance to see if every note fit together perfectly and to notice if they'd ignored something they could change and make it all even more perfect. With a frown on her face, she stopped singing and lifted her hand in front of Mercedes' face to make her stop too. Mercedes rolled her eyes and kept her mouth shut instead of snapping back. No use of arguing Ms. Bossy so close to the end of their glee club.

"Mr. Schue, don't you think the last note was a bit off?" Rachel asked, although she very well knew it had been perfect. Will quickly pasted a teacherly look on his face and turned to look at the girls.

"Yeah.. no. Maybe a little, but you'll get it right tonight," Will said with faked certainty, as if he'd been listening and knew what he was talking about. Rachel watched Mr. Schue sigh and turn to Mike, like he suddenly remembered something he needed to talk about with their dancing king. Rachel look at Finn. She'd always been very perceptive (almost psychic, which sometimes scared people, she thought) but now she was just baffled. Finn was just sitting there, staring at the floor, twitching his fingers together and clearly trying to fake an interest to what the rest of them were doing. And failing badly. Rachel let out a frustrated huff and decided she'd get to the bottom of this by the end of the day. She had the whole ride home to talk to Finn to start with.

Their rehearsing hour was coming to an end, and by the time they decided to hurry home to get ready for the evening, Rachel had noticed at least two more Meaningful Gazes between Finn and Mr. Schue. It wasn't like they were staring at each other, just the opposite - one of them would look at the other just when the other one wasn't looking back. They were like random glances that just lingered a bit longer than glances should. Rachel grabbed her tiny purple-and-pink shoulder bag and smiled at Finn, telling him their ride was gonna be here at any minute. Then she hurried out expecting Finn to follow right on her heels.

But he didn't. Rachel didn't notice this until at the end of the hallway when she said byebyes to the rest of the group, hugging Quinn and Kurt. After the others disappeared through the main door, she stood there for a moment, waiting for Finn to appear at the choir room door. When he didn't, Rachel walked back slowly, trying not to make a sound as she took tentative steps towards the open doorway. She was hoping and fearing she would hear some stuff not meant for her ears. She had no idea know what it could be (and this annoyed her), but secrets heard were always good gossip, if nothing else.

As she got closer to the doorway, she could see Finn standing in the middle of the classroom, holding his jacket and staring at the floor again. Rachel frowned, when she heard them exchange the few words. It was nothing juicy, but there was something wrong with the picture. Their short exchange of words had no gossip worthiness whatsoever, yet Finn was looking so awkward they might've as well be standing there naked, or better yet, both wearing women's underwear. She decided to make her presence known before one of them would notice her, and used her brilliant acting skills to sound as nonchalant as possible.

"Finn, come on! My dads are waiting, we have to go!"

She saw Finn snap out of it (whatever that 'it' was), then mumble something to Mr. Schue and suddenly he was rushing out of the classroom. Rachel lingered at the doorway a couple of seconds more after Finn hurried past her. She saw Mr. Schue behind his desk, standing there like a statue, staring at the spot where Finn had just been standing.
