Two small poems today.

The first one I found while browsing the [Poetry Foundation] website for poems earlier this week. It is not a particularly interesting or elegant poem, but it reminded me of someone I knew.

Today is the memorial service for my cross country coach, and since I can't be there to offer my thoughts and prayers, I wrote this.

I got a flu shot on Wednesday. For free. w00t. City employees get free shots 'cause we work with the public, which means lots of potentially germy people. And I work with little kids, and kids are always getting sick, so yay for free flu shots! Besides, that's the only benefit I get since I'm just a part-timer ( Read more... )

I survived the writers' conference without being eaten by mountain lions or collapsing from exhaustion. :) It was a great experience, and I'm so excited to do some more writing. And I'm so proud of myself for going to the conference AND reading some of my stuff while I was there. Yay!

my thoughts for today are back home in Santa Barbara, where my parents participated in a 5k/10k walk/run this morning that i can't be at because i'm across the country. the reason this walk/run is so important is because it's a Run for Life, which means that all of the money raised from the registration fees and donations goes directly to Coach ( Read more... )

while talking with my mom this afternoon, she updated me on how Coach Watkins is doing and he is really not doing well.
