and today i bring you Shakespeare...

That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou see'st the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west;
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire,
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire
Consum'd with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceiv'st, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.
~ Sonnet 73 by William Shakespeare
Or I shall live your epitaph to make
Or you survive when I in earth am rotten;
From hence your memory death cannot take,
Although in me each part will be forgotten.
Your name from hence immortal life shall have,
Though I, once gone, to all the world must die:
The earth can yield me but a common grave,
When you entombed in men's eyes shall lie.
Your monument shall be my gentle verse,
Which eyes not yet created shall o'er-read;
And tongues to be your being shall rehearse,
When all the breathers of this world are dead;
You still shall live,--such virtue hath my pen,--
Where breath most breathes,--even in the mouths of men.
~ Sonnet 81 by William Shakespeare

Shakespeare. duh.
um... these are two of my favorite sonnets. i feel like there was another one that i liked even more, but i don't have my copy with me (in which it would be marked) and i certainly don't have the time to look through all the sonnets to find it. so these two will have to suffice. okay, "suffice" is not a good word, because they're Shakespeare so of course they're brilliant. but you get my drift.
the rain seems to have subsided for now. it's only supposed to rain lightly this afternoon. no more gushing rivers of water and mud. just mud all over the sidewalks now.
oh! i'm so brilliant! i finally devised an effective way to keep my door from rattling annoyingly when the window is open! w00t! it only took me seven months... >_> of course, it didn't really matter for five and a half of those months. okay maybe i'm not so clever...
i'm going to shut up and go get some food now.
