All set for International Intrigue
I got my shiny new passport today! \o/
The new passport is all high-tech and has some magical electronic chips embedded in the cover or something. And it has pretty pictures of Good Old American LifeTM on all the interior pages. Ooh, aah.
This was my second try at renewing - they did not like the dodgy photos I had done at CVS the first time, so then I went to the Post Office and they liked those better. They are, of course, awful photos, but I feel that's less of an issue with passports since one generally looks rather gross when stepping off a plane.
Curiously, you mail your application and old passport to Philadelphia, and then they send the new one and return your old one from New Hampshire. This does not seem very efficient to me.
But I have a passport and it is good alllllll the way 'til 2019 and so now I just need to sort my insurance (why is that always such a headache?) and I'll be good to go to Germany! :D Oh, and, you know, buy plane tickets, but we have to wait 'til the professor tells us which flights are preferred so we all get there around the same time. (And flight prices have gone down since I checked last month, by quite a lot, yay! *fingers crossed they stay down 'til we buy*)
