(no subject)
I was totally popular tonight - three phone calls in a row! First my mum, then my dad, and then bretagnes_rose. Seriously, barely five minutes between and about an hour for each call. It was lovely, but all that talking was rather exhausting for my throat. :)

Today at work, my boss nearly gave me a heart attack when I wandered back to the workroom to fetch my lunch after having spent the morning locked in (literally!) the scanner room. She and her assistant had been talking in her office and when they spotted me, my boss said, "oh, let's talk to Laura!" and then opened with "I would love to keep you on, but-" and I nearly fainted dead away because that is really not a good thing to hear in the current economy. Thankfully, she qualified that statement by saying that it's my choice if I want to stay on or not, since my job could potentially get a lot more boring next year, since we will be shifting into more digital stuff. (I think she underestimates my capacity for boring tasks, though. I mean, my current big project is relabeling a million billion file dividers by hand, which I can assure you is not exactly thrilling. But she lets me bring my iPod, so I listen to NPR programs and podfics and it's all good.) So apparently we'll be doing a lot of scanning and digital photography and, consequently, I'll have a lot of data entry to do. I did a lot of scanning and data entry at my NASM internship and I didn't even have my iPod there, so I'm thinking I'll be okay. But she says that if I feel like shooting myself after a month, I am totally free to look for other work and I will always have a glowing recommendation. Which, yay! ♥ But even if I were able to find another job (slim pickings in this economy), I highly doubt I would find one where I would be so well-loved. I like being loved and appreciated. :)

And this time tomorrow I will be home!! Or, on my way home anyway, since I am flying in to L.A. But my parents are coming to fetch me there so I can be hugged right away and get home at a more reasonable hour. YAY HOME!!! :D
Travelling alllllll day tomorrow (please think happy weather thoughts at Chicago for me, I have a layover there and they have lots of snow now and a winter storm warning), so I shall be off-the-radar until Saturday. And then I shall be on holiday status for two weeks, which means sporadic, so if anything particularly exciting or interesting or whatever happens, do feel free to drop me an email because I at least check that every day. :)
