I defeated the evil JavaScript assignment! \o/
I dragged myself in for the homework session at the Uni this morning where, as I predicted, the TA was as baffled as everyone else I'd shown the script to. She spent 20 minutes with me, staring blankly at my script versus the original script, and pointing to things and making me explain everything. And she came to the conclusion that "conceptually" my script should work fine, but that I was rather insane for doing it the way I'd done it: "I've never seen anyone do it that way. Can you tell me why you chose to do it that way?" Um, because that was the first thing that occurred to me? I don't know why I did it that way other than it made sense to me. So, rather than hinting at one of the alleged "easy/normal" ways to do this, she abandoned me to go help the other students, leaving me with vague promises of coming back to me and that the prof for the other section of the class was supposed to be coming later and maybe he could help.
So I desolately checked to see if there were any new comments on the post I made at
javascript and there was! I hauled myself in to the Uni, but it was a wonderful, brilliant, patient, and kind soul at
javascript who saved me from stabbing my eyes out. The Internet is a fabulous, fabulous thing. ♥
Thus freed from the evils of badly-written JavaScript, I headed into the city for a bit of fun before having to bog down with all the boring readings I'm now behind on because the script took me way longer than I thought. And where do I go in the city to lift my spirits? Why, the National Air & Space Museum, of course. :)
I wasn't feeling particularly keen on the museum experience (as in, stopping to read all the details on all the plaques by the exhibits) today though, so I just bought a ticket for a planetarium show and draped myself over the balconies whilst waiting for the show, staring up at all the cool air- and spacecraft hanging from the ceiling. I spent quite a bit of that time draped over the balcony in front of the Spirit of St Louis. ♥
Also, across from the planetarium is the "Exploring the Planets" exhibit. I noticed they had the planet symbols alongside the doorframe (and of course I know every planet's symbol not because I am a space geek, but because of Sailor Moon XD). Except it was really sad because I noticed they only had eight symbols. So I went over for a closer look and the ninth symbol was just covered up on the bottom. That's even sadder than if they took it down entirely, I think. Poor Pluto.
The planetarium show that I saw was Infinity Express, which I saw last year. Apparently they don't switch their shows very often (if ever?). My impression was pretty much the same as last time: there are parts that are too flashy and parts that are way lame, but the parts in between are really cool. Like, for instance, seeing images from the Hubble Space Telescope on the planetarium's 70-foot dome. *_*
To conclude: JavaScript has been defeated and space is awesome. Ciao!
