I'll even kiss a sunset pig

Ahh, home sweet home. I am safe and warm in sunny Southern California. :)

Arrived back in SB last night after a full day of travel. I flew all the way across the country from D.C. to SanFran, which I hate because I'm terrible at being cooped up for so long. But I survived and then had another hour and twenty minutes from SanFran to SB. Flying into SB is always so lovely, even at night. The airport is so tiny and quaint. And people can still meet you at the gate 'cause it's so small (they can't hang out with you in the departing gate area, though; but it's so small you can wait to go through security 'til the last minute). And best of all they have baggage claim tents instead of actual buildings. It's awesome. Never change, Santa Barbara Municipal Airport, never change. ♥

There were some small kids on the cross-country flight, who had been running round screaming in the gate area prior to boarding, and of course they sat behind me. However, they actually did not do anything obnoxious until we landed in SanFran and were taxiing to the gate, at which point they alternated between singing bits of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and cheerfully proclaiming "We're all gonna die!" Strange little creatures...

I had no airport!drama except for the 10 seconds at SFO when I was passing by a security checkpoint and a bunch of guards started yelling "BREACH!" and another guard told everyone to freeze. That was fun... The heart-stopping kind of fun... I'm fairly certain it was a drill, as I didn't see anyone get tackled to the ground or anything, but I didn't feel inclined to hang around after the guard said we could move again. Why would they do a drill of that in the midst of the insane amounts of holiday travellers???

(Also, SFO has no Starbucks. Shocking! Instead, they have several Peet's (hmm, how does one do the plural of a possessive?). I thought it was very awesome of them to say no to Starbucks in favour of the local California company.)

But I made it home (with my baggage!), yay! :)

So last night, after getting home and settling in a bit, we watched Santa Claus Conquers The Martians, a delightfully awful MST3k holiday special. :D

And today, I braved the crowds at Borders to accomplish some Christmas shopping, which I had no time for earlier due to finals and such. The crowd looked worse than it was, though, so it didn't take too long in line. But the cashier messed up my gift card amounts, so now I don't know what to do. Spend half the amount on me so it comes out to the amount I intended? :P

Ciao!
