Another meme? OMG, hide the children, it's about cosplay! =O

Saw it on dA and figured why the hell not. *shrugs*

- Who did you first cosplay as?
Can I lie about this?
Okay, so there was this .hack/ROOTS cosplay, but I didn't make it, I didn't chose the character (Ender) and only wore it once for a short time without having watched the show. It also sucked; I had the worst wig you could think of and it wasn't a character that suited me at all. Bad on so many levels. I don't think it counts.
When I actually took up cosplay (reluctantly, I might add) I wanted to do Pokémon, but my first finished cosplay ended up being Spain and Germany from Hetalia. I don't quite identify with Spain, so I'm going to go with Germany. He's the first character that I chose for myself that I really wanted to cospay.
Oh, there also was a maid outfit at roughly the same time. Guess when I do start something, I don't do it half heartedly. XD;;

- When and where did you first cosplay?
April 2010, for all three mentioned outfits.
I wore the maid dress for a friend's birthday as well as a photo shoot and the Hetalia cosplays for our own event.
That's when I discovered that playing/being a character is more important that the costume itself.

- When and where was the last time you cosplayed?
AnimagiC 2011, I think. A very American weekend, with a bit of Malfoy added for variety.

-Who have you cosplayed as in the past?
Hetalia: Germany, Spain, America
Pokémon: Notched-ear-Pichu
Harry Potter: Draco Malfoy

- Who is your favourite person to cosplay as?
Germany.
I love all my cosplays, but he's special. =)

- Who do you REALLY wanna cosplay as?
Right now? Sawsbuck, winter version. I love that Pokémon so much it's not even funny. ♥

- How many of your friends cosplay?
Quite a few if you count all the guys I met via Hetalia. ^^x

- Have you ever walked around in public in your cosplay outfit?
Of course.

- Have people in public ever recognized you and asked for photos?
Yep.

- Have you ever made your own cosplay outfit?
I ask friends for help a lot because I'm new to this whole thing, but I try and do as much as possible by myself.
That being said, Spain was largely done by a friend and so was my first Germany uniform as well as the maid dress. But I'd like to think that I'm slowly learning how to sew and I did most of my second Germany uniform myself, so that's an improvement.

- What was your favorite cosplay experience?
The world conference of the first Tomato Gathering, I think. It was tremendously fun, even though I hardly knew anyone at that point.
Next in line is 2010's Dokomi where I spent all day with a certain Italy cosplayer and even though my blisters had blisters in the end it was a great weekend.

- What is your worst cosplay experience?
I try not to dwell on bad memories and can't think of one right now. ^__^x

- When and where did you first learn of cosplay?
You can't really miss it when you're part of the anime/manga fan scene. So... early 2000s, I'd say.

- What did you think of it then?
At first I didn't care at all because it wasn't as much of a thing back then.
Then suddenly (very subjective description) it was all over the place and I remember how we made jokes about it. I never considered trying it out for myself until it just happened.

- What do you think of it now?
It's fun and I love it, but I'm still rather casual about it. People who take it too seriously usually get wrapped up in all sorts of drama.

- Where do you usually cosplay?
At conventions ir smaller gatherings in the area.

- Have you ever done a cosplay skit on stage?
We agreed that one didn't count, didn't we? *points at first question* (But yeah, let's just say there was a group cosplay competition at Connichi, and there was music and a bit of amateur dancing.

- Have you ever won a prize for said skit?
No. XD

- Do you plan your cosplay outfits waaay before you're meant to wear them?
I don't plan much because I don't cosplay much. And the cosplays I do have I wanna wear a lot because they're things I love.
But I guess usually I do plan ahead; there's a long phase of "hmmm, I really wanna cosplay that" and sometimes that leads to an actual cosplay being done (it helps when you cosplay with friends, it gives you extra motivation to actually do it).

- Have you ever been to a convention and cosplayed?
Where else would one go to cosplay!?

- Ever have something terrible happen to your outfit?
Nope. Once a friend was sloppy during a barbeque and my Pichu cosplay came away with a bad stain, but it all went out. =)

- What is the best thing about cosplay?
Being that character and interacting with others that way. And making friends.

- What is the worst thing about cosplay?
It's rather expensive and a lot of people seem to take it way too seriously.

- Why do you cosplay?
Cuz it's a fun way to further experience a character and/or show I love. It's a role play thing.

- How long have you been cosplaying?
About 1 1/2 years.

- How long will you continue cosplaying?
Dunno, as long as I have the opportunity to do so and friends to do it with. Which hopefully means quite a while.
