Earlier this month, I spent two nights on Washington Island, Wisconsin along with my parents and my aunt and uncle (Mom's brother).

Washington Island is a island in the strait (called, reassuringly, "Death's Door") between Lake Michigan and Green Bay. It's a small island and there's not much to do there... and everyone likes it that way ( Read more... )

Typically, not only did I NOT get up early enough to watch them cooking before I went to the skits Wednesday morning, I didn't even get up early enough to make the beginning of the skits. (I missed the reading of the Declaration of Independence.) All in all I think the Tuesday/Thursday skits about events leading up to the Revolution are the best ( Read more... )

It sounds like one of my neighbors in the hotel bought her child a wooden recorder at the gift shops yesterday.

From the tooting and the conversation, it also sounds like she's already regretting it. :-)

Here I am in Colonial Williamsburg and (at least temporarily) online. When all was said and done it was 4:30 before I left Durham, so I got here just in time to check in and drive straight to the visitor's center without stopping at the room so that I could grab my tickets and sign up for a few programs before the visitor's center closed at 9.
