I arrived back in Iowa yesterday evening after a week-long trip to Denver to visit my parents. I had planned to pull something out of the freezer instead of cooking.

Then I saw what my tomato plants were up to while I was gone...

In other news, I had a pretty good week food-wise. I tried Cook's Illustrated Stovetop Roast Chicken recipe and it was very nice. It involves browning, then steaming, then browning the chicken parts, and I'm wondering if it would work as well on duck as it does on chicken. I may have to try it ( Read more... )

Before SnB on Tuesday I stopped by the tiny Indian supermarket by Target. I went in and asked if they had any paneer. If paneer is as well-represented in the diets of real Indian people as it is on the menus of Indian restruants, this is probably something like walking into a standard American supermarket and asking if they had chicken ( Read more... )
