Happiness is...taking up new hobbies :)

Saturday Tracy and I went on a shopping spree of sorts at JoAnn Fabrics. She was looking to get some quilting supplies and I was looking for sewing supplies. They were having a huge sale and I had a lot of fun getting the basics that I'll need to make some simple curtains for the house (I'm starting small and eventually I'll go bigger and tackle the downstairs curtains) and I also picked up a rotary cutting set as that will be nice to have when I trim fabric for blankets and I'd like to eventually try my hand at quilting a few little potholders.

I'm excited about really learning to sew because other than the small stint I had in home ec I can't necessarily call myself competent. But I am an engineer and you follow a pattern so honestly how hard could it be? I'm going home this weekend and my mom is going to help me learn since she's an ace and used to sew clothes for me when I was a kid. That should be fun and I haven't seen her in a while. Then the weekend won't be so lonely for me either...

I'm also still hard at work at the pillow cases I started before Christmas - I'm trying to get the embroidery done by mother's day and so far so good...I really do enjoy that stuff. Although I have to say I need to learn to stop giving the stuff I work on away - I kind of want to keep them now that I've spent so much time on them :P

Anyways its time for lunch and I'm starving...
