(MEMORY) Location: Montana highway - snowpacked, icy, curvy. I was driving, listening to music, my mother was in the passenger seat telling me I should slow down a little. The speed limit was 65, I was going 65. The road curves and descends - on the left is the cement siding separating us from the cars on the other side, on the right is a bit of a shoulder and snow banks. The road is more slushy than icy it seems and the car glides over the slush suddenly catching ice. I hit the brakes. The car seems to split in half as we swerve from side to side and I see my mom right in front of me yelling at me to take my foot off the brake. I move the steering wheel left to right, trying to gain some control of the car and get it away from the cement siding. We swerve, and after the car splits, the back of the car shaves some snow off of the bank and it covers the windshield in a glacier white shower. Once the window is blocked my eyes are wide open, my mouth shut, my ears can only hear my mother yelling...I'm not sure if the car is swerving or rolling over. In that split second I squeeze my eyes shut and the car glides across the snowbank, finally stopping. I open my eyes, my hands still gripping the steering wheel, and the butt of the car is in the snowbank - no damage, to us or the car. How lucky we are to continue on that lone Montana highway...
