Time for the annual recap...
2009 has been a year of mostly ups. Definitely an improvement on 2008, I have to say. The big highlights were our trips to Australia, New York, and of course Italy. We were lucky enough to have my sister visit over Easter, and Mandy in October. We also got to spend a lovely weekend with our god-daughter, Rosi, before she started her summer camp. We had fun music experiences (Regina Spektor, Kylie MInogue, Poor Boy, Tosca). We said goodbye to Uncle Wayne, dealt with the quirks of N's family, but mostly this year was about us. N and I, enjoying life. N's travel schedule gives us both a break from each other at regular intervals, which I think I appreciate more than he does. Our homelife is pretty well perfect. I just wish my family were closer so that I could have that grounded feeling more. Hard to explain... but you all know me well enough to get what I'm trying to say here.
Work for me was uneven this year. It's busy -- overly so at times -- but I don't know if I'm truly settled at the moment. There's some change ahead in early 2010, with the completion of Abbott's acquisition of Solvay, so that will bring new challenges and learning experiences. I really think there'll be some shuffling within the department to accommodate the new products and staff, so maybe that's another opportunity for me to shift focus a bit. I'm not exactly bored, but I'm not as enthusiastic about it all like I used to be.
Tonight's a quiet transition into the New Year for us. Early drinks and snacks at Cafe Pyrenees, then home for dinner and bubbly. We have the Season 3 DVDs of Doctor Who from the library, so we'll work on getting through those tonight and over the weekend, so we can get into the Season 4 discs next week. :) I'm looking forward to seeing Chris Isaak tomorrow night. 2010 may be another busy year of music, which is always good.
I hope 2010 is a good one for each of you as well.
