Logically speaking, the back of a Chinese restaurant is actually a pretty good place for the occasional weary freedom fighter to crash out.  Anyone coming in looks like they're either going to work or having a meal, and it's easy enough to say the cots and etc are for the owner, should anyone have any reason to go back behind the kitchens, which ( Read more... )

"Sounds good." Claire is watching West's expression with a bemused smile; she's excited to meet this Alessandra person that's so important to him. Aunt-figure, mother-figure, either way, it's a good thing for West to have someone like that.

At promptly quarter past two pm, Alessandra Bianchi arrives -- and nobody misses her arrival, either. When you're six foot and part of your...let's call it livelihood is how you look, blending in? Not so much an option. The alternative, of course, is to stand out so much that you couldn't possibly be hiding.

"There you are," she says, and she could easily be a beloved aunt, kissing both his cheeks and holding him at arm's length to examine him. "You look good." Translation: I see no visible marks and you didn't wince when I touched you. "Okay. What's the emergency?"

Won't you sit down on a cot, Alessandra? ...no, probably not. Either way West sits so they are not all towering over tinyClaire. "Lessie, this -- this is Claire." Although they will of course not be using real names anywhere other than here, naturally. "She's new." He does not say 'To The Cause,' or 'And We Are Totally Doing It,' but both of these things are audible.

Awww! Claire does not actually voice that noise but it's fairly visible in her expression. She smiles at Alessandra, cheerful in as much as one can be, these days, and says, "Hi. It's nice to meet you."
