Fun, food, and family

No, I'm not a Knoebels Amusement Resort* ad :P But, I am a happy bouncy biker chick :D Today was excellent. It started by me finally giving Bluebird a much needed bath. He's shiny again :) I would have replaced the damaged fairing too, but I ran out of time. We got on the road about 12:30pm to my cousin's daughter's birthday party. The weather was gorgeous, mostly sunny, not too hot and no humidity. No mishaps in the driveway on the way out and we headed into Scranton to pick up DH's phone (he left it at work). We hit the interstate (81S) for a short bit so that we could make some time. We got off on Bus 309S and after a stop for gas, we continued on down through Wilkes-Barre, Hazelton, and finally into Tamaqua. In Tamaqua we picked up 209 and headed out to my cousin's house. We rolled into my cousin's place a little after 3pm.

I took the opportunity to show off the bikes to my Mom, cousin and one of her friends. Mom wanted to know if darph_bobo bought the Magna because of all the chrome. Not that the Magna really has a lot of chrome, but it looks that way because of the 4 exhaust pipes. I also showed her how my bike isn't a true sport due to the seating position. My Mom wanted to know where she went wrong :P I said "what do you mean wrong? There's nothing wrong with me!" *sigh* Poor Mom, I don't think she expected me to turn out to be a rebel. :) My cousin wanted to know if she could borrow the Magna for a poker run** someone was having. We had some yummy food at my cousin's and spent a few hours chatting and relaxing. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay for cake, since it was getting late and I didn't want to ride home in the dark. We hit the road about 6:30pm to head home.

We reversed our route back out 209, then to 309N. We skipped the interstate this time; instead we took US 11N to Scranton and then Bus 6 to home. It was a very enjoyable ride both times. It's very scenic going up the mountains and into the valleys.

No mishaps going into the driveway either this time :D We got home just as it was getting dark, about 9pm. It was a milestone for me too. It was the most mileage I've done in one day - ~150 miles round trip :D And other than a little soreness in my wrists, bad knee, and rear end, I'm feeling pretty good. I really do need an aftermarket seat though. The stock foam over the seat pan is just horrid after about 45 minutes.

It was a really good day.

* Knoebels Amusement Resort is an amusement park/campground in Elysburg, PA. It's one of the last places that still does rides by ticket. Their ads have the tag line "fun, food and fantasy".

** A Poker Run is a motorcycle ride where the participants travel a pre-determined route with pre-determined stops. At each stop, you pick a playing card. At the end of the ride, the rider with the best hand wins. The participant's entry fees are typically split to provide the winnings and the rest going to a charity.
