charloft: Munday - We don't need no education!

1. What is your character's education level?

High school.

2. Is he currently attending any sort of school?

The school of life?

3. How much self-teaching does he do?

Reading all the time, even if the topics are rather selective. A lot of pop-culture savvy, too.

4. What sort of learning experiences has he undergone?

Traveling around since he was almost five; he's moved around among a great many schools, staying at most a few weeks anywhere. School was not a priority for him, nor bonding with peers, since they were going to go away again soon. Well, until girls, and then he was bonding all right.

5. How interested in formal education is your character? How interested is your character in educating himself?

He is not interested in any more formal education; that was Sam's thing, but Dean was never into it. Research and keeping up with the lore and what is going on, however, is vital - possibly the only way to stay alive most of the time.

6. Does your character make an effort to disguise their lack of education, or downplay how much education they have had? Why?

Hahaha Dean disguises everything and anything about himself at different times. He and Sam frequently pose as having positions that require education, and, in many cases (i.e. FBI agents) very specialized education. However, that has nothing to do with being embarrassed or unhappy with his level of education. He knows what he needs to know.

7. Does your character have any learning disabilities? How do these affect him?

Just a general lack of interest in academics per se.

8. Are there any ways in which your character is gifted? How does this affect him?

He's physically very strong, but also very quick-witted, and intuitive. The latter two he is basically not paying attention to explicitly, but all three allow him and, most of the time, those he's protecting, to stay alive.

9. How do you reflect your character's educational level in writing for him?

Hmmm. He's an odd mixture of not having been educated and actually knowing a lot of the 'five dollar words' because of the huge amounts of reading he does. But actually not having a specific major that I need to look up about is a little easier for me. BUT he makes up for that with having extensive knowledge as a car mechanic, which sometimes kills me. >.>

Mostly, I just strive to hit his voice as it is on the show. If I can hear his voice speaking the words in my head? Then I know I'm along the lines of getting him right. Probably.
