Fic request: bored!Dean
For this set of prompts. Bored!Dean for soldier_ofgod. Not necessarily binding to any version/'verse.
The book was downright boring.
For all that Sam was the college boy, Dean did do his homework though, and he was bulldozing his way through it anyway. Even if he found his mind straying from it enough to actually doodle on the notepad beside the book. (Not on the page with the notes. In the back. Yes, he was bored enough to pay that much attention to that.)
His brother had driven off, to get stuff or something like that. Dean couldn't blame him from wanting a break from research just now. They were in the middle of a whole load of nothing. But they did need to be thorough.
He sighed, and tried to focus on the long and winding and fucking cryptic paragraphs again. But all that he was coming up with was trite, and already-known.
Boring.
Tap-tap-tap of the pencil over the paper. A slight cracking or quacking sound as Dean filled up the space between his upper lip and gum with air, then let it out, yeah, like that. Another sentence. More tap-tap-tapping.
"Dean."
The front legs of the chair crashing into the floor. "Geebuz, man!" Dean looked over his shoulder, and sure enough, Castiel was there. "Give a bit of a warning, will ya?"
"You're needed."
"You know. I actually don't mind being bored all that much. I can go on being bored a bit more."
"It's Sam."
That got Dean's attention. Actually, it propelled him out of his seat, book and paper and pencil instantly forgotten.
"Where?"
