It's been a long time

I haven't updated in ages.  I've been lazy and overwhelmed and busy and had my mind on other things, and updating seemed unimportant for a while.  But it really is very important for me to keep writing in this journal to record what I'm going through.  So at Adena's urging I am finally putting the time into doing some writing.

My dad had a stroke.  He's alive and recovering now in Victoria General Hospital, and my mom is back there helping take care of him.  Fortunately he had his stroke on the same day as my mom was flying back, so he wasn't alone in the hospital for long.  He was found laying on the bedroom floor, and had bashed his face up rather badly when he had the stroke and fell down.  He seems to be bouncing back quickly though, and is giving his nurses a hard time.  He finally managed to convince them to take out his catheter.

My aunt is in town taking care of me.  Adena is spending lots of time at my place which is totally great.  She even goes to the transplant gym with me some days!  She has her own journey she is on, and we are supporting each other very well.  There is an amazing amount of love between us, I think more than almost any relationship I've had, and we are planning a future together.

The gym itself is fantastic support.  My family and I have met a lot of other people, mostly older folks, who are going through the transplant process.  There are successes and tragedies.  It's a pretty emotional journey, because it's so important.  We are all fighting or our lives.

All I can do is wait and hope and keep being strong until I get my lungs.  It could happen at any moment, and every minute that goes by brings me closer to it.  I wish I could help my parents more, and take care of myself better.  I am ready and eager to start being a normal adult again--I just have to get the surgery first.  I miss home and all my friends there.  But most of all I want to experience life oxygen free again, with Adena by my side, and start down the road to more painless (but just as stimulating) adventures.
