Or, you could write them and tell them why even though you're qualified and interested, you think you'd be wasting your time. Could you effect any positive change from the inside?
I'm equally concerned that if the Dems do somehow gain meaningful power (possible this year, given that the nasty Rep underworld is coming to light), they won't do anything useful with it. They'll spend 90% of their energy just trying to hold onto it.

I'm having a conflict about Duffy Media, a political research firm for the Democratic party and candidates. I'm very qualified and it sounds interesting, but it seems kind of pointless. The Dems aren't in power and show no indication of making the ideological and practical changes necessary to gain meaningful power. It seems perfectly obvious what they need to do, but Karl Rove seems to have replaced their leadership with the worst of the failed RNC candidates.
Maybe I'll apply so when he offers me the job I can decline it for philosophical reasons.
