I barely have time to even check this lately. Such is life with a 2 year old and a newborn.
Things are going well. Maddy seems to really really like her sister (she is currently laying under the rainforest mat with her). She likes to "hold" her and lay with her and is very gentle. She has shown no jealously about anything at all. Bedtime has been great, though naptime seems to be gone. She still does about 2 hours of "quiet time" in her room, where she plays with toys quietly and reads books. She does that well and it gives me some peace. Several days a week I have the nanny with me all day. I don't know how I'd keep my sanity without that.
Maddy seems to have weaned completely, much to my dismay. I'm trying not to feel a tad resentful about nursing ALL THE WAY through pregnancy, only to have her wean once I have milk again. :) She's "nursed" a handful of times since Mo was born, but she doesn't really seem to have any interest, even when she sees Moira nursing. She just points to my boobs and says "juice! Moi juice!" She tries to latch on, but she doesn't really, and then she just goes "mmmm!" and unlatches. I'm actually a little sad, but the point of letting her self wean was just that - to wean on her own, and she has. I'm glad we pretty much made it to 2, but I am sad that we didn't get past that, and that we didn't get to tandum nurse at all. I'm also sad because I wonder if I hadn't gotten pregnant when she was 14 months old if should would have nursed longer.
Moira is 5 weeks old today. She was weighed a week ago and weighed 9 lbs, 9 oz - she's gained almost 3 lbs since her discharge weight and was gaining about 1.5 oz a day. She's pretty much the same size Maddy was at 3 months old. It's so odd for me, to have a normal sized kid. Maddy had her 2 year checkup yesterday. She is 36.75 inches tall and 31 lbs - she's gained almost 10 lbs and 5 inches in a year. Crazy! She knows about 75-80 words and is saying lots of sentences now ("that's too hot," "I want cheese/cake/juice," it's blue/green/black," "where daddy go?" etc) My mat leave is half over as of today. I am not looking forward to going back; I'm really enjoying spending so much time with Maddy. I feel like I'm getting to know her so much better.
