Wild Kingdom
My place is turning into an episode of Wild Kingdom. To recap the past week or so...
* There's a garter snake living in my ivy -- have to regularly keep him safe from the dogs.
* Discovered a mouse nesting in a seldom opened dresser drawer. She has since moved her "pinkies" since I accidentally disturbed the nest. (In 17 years, we've never had a mouse try to take up residence IN the house like this.)
* There's a pair of birds (some variety of flycatcher) who have nested and produced one bald baby, right outside my bedroom window. (Also a first)
* A sub-adult male bear made his way into the yard tonight to avail himself of some trash. (Only the 2nd bear incident we've ever had here.) We gently encouraged him to move on, and ended up having to open our gate for him so that he could get back out of the yard. (Gir and Lilah say that they have never, EVER smelled something so interesting.)
* At least one skunk has passed through. Although he/she caused no trouble, it did get me off my butt to buy some skunk-stink remover.
