Summary: Tom and Paul go to the bar to unwind, and are greeted in a less-than-pleasant fashion.
“Want to go to the bar with me?” I asked.
“Sure,” Paul said. “Let me just finish this paragraph, then I’m due for an alcohol break.”
“I talked to Brad, and he said he didn’t want to come, but he would be willing to drive us home.”
Paul scoped out a table and I bought two beers from the bartender. I placed both bottles on the table sitting next to him.
“So what were you working on?”
“A paper for my government class. It’s due at the end of the semester, but I wanted to get a head start.”
Just then a slightly drunk college-aged man came up to us, glared and said, “Why don’t you freaks go to your bar?” and walked away.
“So we have our own bar,” I said, feeling a bit cynical since I knew what he meant.
“Yeah, the T&P bar,” Paul said.
I started laughing.
“We have an unfortunate set of initials,” I said. “Come on, let’s dance.”
“Hey, wanna make out?” a girl who was so drunk she didn’t realize she had fallen out of her shirt slurred, as she rubbed a hand along my arm.
“I’m taken,” I said.
“Honey, we’re all gay once we’ve had too many beers.”
She walked away giggling.
“Wow, we must not be able to hold our alcohol. I mean, I’m gay even when I’m on a dry spell,” I said.
“Me too.
“But I’ve gotta say, I’d much rather kiss you then her, even if I was straight,” Paul said grinning.
“Well, I’m glad you’re not straight,” I said, smiling.
“Me too,” Paul said, and kissed me.
