Good weekend for a change

Well, started off good till I realised at 10.10 on Saturday that I had a tutorial at 10! Managed to get there by 10.30 so not too bad. In the meantime D took Harry off to Tesco to do the shopping and by the time I got back at about 12.30 his parents had come round and the four of them were out in the garden, digging and clearing :) We really need to do something to it and we have made a start by clearing the turf from the area we are going to have as Harry's play area (he has a house, a picnic bench, a sandpit, and a slide/climbing thingy). We also wanted to grass over a flower bed we dug when we first moved in, as it is against the garage and would be good for kicking a ball against. Had planned on grass seed but realised we could reuse the turf we were digging up from the play area. So that is now turfed and all but a small section of the play area is clear. Just got to do that and then put down some anti-weed matting we bought and then the bark chips.

Mid-afternoon Harry, D's mum and I went out to our local garden centre to get some seeds for Harry to plant. Eventually we are going to get him a little planter, but to start with we are planting some seeds in a little tray with a lid (mini greenhouse sort of thing) which D's dad has lent us. We also wanted to get him a little child's size gardening set.

I took the crutches which made it a bit easier going round the store but I was still aching afterwards. We bought him some seeds (and a complete grow-your-own cress kit which I'm going to try this week with him) and a cute little set of tools in a bag.

Yesterday was mother's day. Harry got me some flowers, Pan's Labyrinth on DVD (yay!) and the Ben Mills CD (X Factor). Had a lovely soak in the bath with a book before we headed over to D's parents'. My parents had gone down to Weymouth to see my gran so we couldn't see them (yesterday was also my mum's birthday). Had a nice lunch, then we planted Harry's seeds. He didn't quite get the hang of 'one at a time'!

The weather was nice, if cold, and Harry spent quite a bit of time in the garden with Daddy, Grandad and his uncle, playing football and playing hide and seek (they have a HUGE garden with plenty of places to hide). I stayed in where it was warm - although I did feel sad that I couldn't go out and run around with them, but going out and sitting would have just been TOO cold. It started to snow just as we were leaving to come home, but it hasn't settled.

Had to put up with his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse CD (must get him the Doodlebops one for a bit of variety) in the car as that was the only way to keep him awake - he is so grumpy if he wakes up after falling asleep in the car.

Put him straight to bed and settled down for a nice evening of 24 and Lost :)
