Episode Thoughts: Supernatural 4.03 In The Beginning

I need to watch it again to get all my thoughts in order, the last 15 or so minutes is Holy FUCK! Yeah that's the only words I can come up with. I may be more coherent after another watch-through. I'll edit this post to reflect that... 'Cause right now, I got nothing.

OMG, the whole diner scene had me loling. It's absolutely gut wrenching to see John and Mary's roles reversed to what I thought they'd been. John, so sweet and innocent. And Mary so kick-ass tough.

And yeah, they went there, didn't they. It took me a full on minute for me to realize that that's her father. I was so wrapped up in my own dismay at Mary's actual deal.

Didn't Dean come back to the exact moment he left? He's going to be right on Sammy's tail, is he not? I got the impression that not much time had passed.

The diner scene was wonderful. Same with the car lot.

I was always of the opinion that John was an 'innocent' in the whole thing until he had to hunt down the thing that killed his Mary. And oh the circles we can run around that whole thing...

but yeah I love that John was the 'clean cut- all American' good boy. And that Mary didn't want that life (hunting) for her kids... but it's really her own fault that they got it.

They did go there. They totally did, and I was shocked for a solid minute til I realised that TPTB must be reading the fic that some people write with all the Wincest...

I'm not sure how close to 'exact' they were playing it. But I'm guessing it's fairly close. So yeah Dean should be right on Sammy's tail.

And to know how innocent John was in the past makes him such a great character *draws hearts* I love him even more now.

loved that ep to pieces, and I hate Ruby too. Badass 3rd season Ruby? Yes, please. Bimbo fangirly 4th season Ruby? Thanks but no thanks.

The only reason I tolerate her is because she shows us how deep the love between the boys goes (I mean, come on. She's blatantly a substitute for Dean. They SAY it.)

I'm not a big fan of Ruby in any incarnation...

I'm totally seeing the Sam/Ruby sex scene as Sam having finally emotionally broken and he really sees Dean where Ruby is, so he's totally fucking Dean there. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
