If you can do a half-marathon in 1:42 after a heavy week's holidaying, I'm guessing I won't see you for dust at Hellrunner! Good effort on your PB.

Thanks :-)

Hellrunner is a very different experience tho'. You'll need proper trail shoes, clothing that won't get heavier when wet or snag on anything, food for before and after, something warm to wear after too. Oh, and to be slightly crazy...

Do you have any recommendations for clothing? I have some Snow+Rock base layers that I use for skiing, I'm assuming something similar is what is wanted here.

I was basically thinking I'd have to chuck all my race clothes in a waterproof bag for the journey home.

Hadn't thought too much about food, it must be said.

I think just signing up for this was a sign of sufficient craziness, having seen the photos from last year, but we'll see!

Lycra shorts/cycling shorts would be ideal, and a similarly tight technical top. Typical baselayer wouldn't have the structural integrity for it, it's not designed to survive being snagged on things for example. Yeah, you will have to chuck everything in a bag after the race and deal with it later (remember spare shoes too!). It can get quite cold out in the middle of nowhere, it's fine when running but bring something warm too. There is food on-site of the burger-van variety, and usually sports food in the goodie bag they give finishers, but anything else you will need to bring. I ran one year with a Camelbak but there's no way to keep the mouthpiece mud-free.

Last year there was a couple who came straight from their wedding to it and did it in tuxedo/wedding dress. Fortunately the best man had his knife to cut half the dress away when it became waterlogged...
