Poker night with the boys (and carrie)

Aug 22, 2004 05:06

Well ladies and gentlemen, i had me quite an evening. Played some good poker with a lot of people i havent gotten to see in quite some time. Unfortunately, i cant even give a decent reprise of this evening before i launch into this little rant I prepared while driving home

Dear kyle,

When playing poker among friends, it is considered highly unsportsmanlike and downright rude to win a large sum of money, and then cash out without giving people a decent shot at winning some back. killing half the pot is what we call selfish, expecially amongst people you know. So that in itself is annoying, but not something worth ranting about. Ive got better things to do.

IT GETS A LOT BETTER!

Then mr kyle decided that he witnessed me stealing money by taking 4 dollars worth of chips out when i placed only 2 dollars in the pot. Granted when confronted with this, the messy state my wallet was in didnt allow me any immediate proof. So, how does he decide to handle it? Does he

a. tell the group that we should count up the chips, because i might have messed up when i bought in.

b. ask me if i was sure i put in the proper amount of money for the chips i took out.

c. accuse me and call me a cheater and a thief (without asking me my account or any sort of actual proof), and then when i give my word as a man that i did nothing wrong, ignore me and continue to impugn my honor.

yeah, thats right kiddies, kyle picked option c. Now, despite my rather deep urge to grab him by the face and drag him out and settle this, i played it out and asked alan to count up the chips. By the time we actually counted the chips, our dear friend kyle had already left with his half the pot. So, did the pot come up 2 dollars short?

.....drum roll.....

NO! it came up 10 cents short. TEN GODDAMN CENTS! And since i had lost about 6 dollars that evening, i was pretty sure i didnt walk away with that 10 cents.

As a little backstory, for those of you playing the home game, on jason and theft. When i was about 5-6 ish, i had a real thing for stealing. I was taking everything i could get my hands on. And i didnt care if i got caught. That was of course, till i got caught taking some money off the cupboard that turned out to belong to my sister, that she had made at the garage sale, selling her toys and whatnot. She wanted to buy a bike. That was pretty much my turning point as far as theft goes. I had a long hard (expecially for a 7 year old) talk with my parents on the topic of theft. And i swore to them i would never take anything from anyone that didnt belong to me. As of this day, i have never stolen money from anyone ever. I have never taken any personal belongings of anyone i knew. In fact, as my recolection has served me, the only thing i have stolen in the past 14 or so years was a roll of white butcher paper and a roll of duct tape from the asb closet after my senior year. And if you cant see why i would have very little problem with liberating some extra supplies from those guys, well... your just gonna have to figure that out for yourself.

So, Kyle S., if by some means you happen to hear of this post through whoever, take this to heart. If you see me, walk the other goddamn way. You will never
speak to me, look at me, or be in my presence again. If you speak poorly of me, i will know. And if i ever god damn hear you pull anything even resembling what you did to me tonight, you will regret it. If you, or anyone else, feels this is an overreaction, too fucking bad. Ive tolerated a lot of shit in my 20 years on this earth, and ive taken it with a smile.

I will NEVER take an insult to my honor or my word sitting down, and you can take that to the fucking bank.

now im going to sleep this off, anyone feel like doing anything sunday, just call me, ill be free and i would venture a guess ill be bored out of my mind and dying to get out and do crap. adios
