Is the weekend over alread--aww CRAPPIT!!
Jules came over on Friday and we went out to Woodfield for pizza and to see
Good Night, and Good Luck., which turns out is a pretty good movie. My only beef with it is that it's pretty much a recreation of history and there isn't too much of a central story. Like, there's a scene where Murrow and his crew are saying, "We're gonna get this story aired" and then they get the story aired and then there's a scene where they say, "We're gonna get McCarthy" and then they get McCarthy. Any heart revolves the tragic life of
Don Hollenbeck. I guess Clooney's main intention with the film was as Murrow's was with the news: Just get the facts and cut the B.S. Good stuff, anyway.
After thinking of a great line about boobs (don't ask), I actually managed to come up with a series of thoughts about boobs that could potentially be a good 4-minute open-mike standup set. Who knew?
I had my final meeting with my landlord on Saturday afternoon. I only got 75% of my deposit back, but I guess that's the risk of renting an apartment from a private owner who does/hires all the repairs and cleanings himself. At any rate, my time as a renter is officially over for now. And I have another reference.
We watched
Punch-Drunk Love on Saturday, which I forgot had a LOT of tension throughout the film. It makes you uncomfortable because you're not quite sure what each character is going to do next, especially Sandler's. But there's some great lines in the film ("Pudding."), as well as some sweet moments that just make the movie for me.
It was another of what I care to officially dub "Matturday Night" (Saturday night at Matt's). This night was spent playing "
Lunch Money" and attempting to solve "30-Second Mysteries". As Matt noted on Sunday morning, it was nice because it wasn't weird and we didn't have to be anywhere the next day.
We were going to see
Marcy's show, but it was sold out, so instead we went to see Stritch's production of
LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL, which was actually pretty good, despite its three-hour running time. I've decided to work on
Stritch's theatre website again, since it hasn't been updated since I handed over the reigns a year ago. Turns out I'll get paid, too, which makes it worth my time. :)
I discovered that Noelle has made the instant decision to move five hours more away to Minneapolis/St. Paul to work for Ticketmaster and live with her uncle for an undetermined amount of time, which is kinda sad. Of course, she can probably hook us up with some sweet seats in events in the Twin Cities. Anyway, she's moving NEXT WEEKEND (wtf?) so that's a little nuts. She couldn't make it to the show, so we didn't get a chance to see her. But I may meet up with her there anyway, since I've taken it upon myself to drive Julie to and from the Twin Cities for her audition with Climb Theater on Friday and Saturday. Road trip!
Stoner thought for the weekend: No matter where you look on Earth, you will probably see something that was created from a decision someone made (or decided not to make). CoSmIc!
