Yesterday was the yearly Hunter x Hunter only event! Yeah, I finally got to attend it again after having missed... 2? 3? years! I think it was cancelled in 2020, then in 2021 I was too busy moving (and I wasn't even sure if the event was held, but it must have been considering the numbering - the one in 2019 was "06) Then last year I was finally going to go again, but then I ended up going to the Netherlands in September. It sure has been a while... >w<
The venue was different this time, although it was still near Asakusabashi, on the other side of Tokyo. When my friend and I arrived, there wasn't a sign or anything up yet, just a big line of people inside a parking lot on the ground floor of the building... But the previous venue was kinda like that too, so I didn't doubt that it was there xD Only later in the day they put up this cute sign! Maybe it didn't arrive in time? A lot of the organizing seemed to be happening last-minute. ^^;
My friend wasn't cosplaying, so I went in ahead because the changing rooms were already open... The lines were a bit disorganized - there was only one line for people who had pre-sale tickets (like me) and people who still had to buy tickets on the spot, so the staff had to walk along the line and pick out the people with presale tickets because they could go on ahead. There was a short wait for the changing room (it had opened at 11:00, but we only arrived at 11:30 - it hadn't been clear on my ticket that the changing rooms opened earlier, it just said "event starts at 12:00"... ) but I still managed to finish changing right at 12:00 when the event opened. (Everyone clapped and "ohayou" started playing over the speakers T_T )
Yay! There was a gallery of fanart wallscrolls again, this cute one is by Shirozone!
When my friend came in, we met up and she took some full-body shots of my new (ish) cosplay! In th eend, I really liked how it turned out! There's some folds and creases in awkward places in the jacket depending on how I move (probably because I altered the pattern without knowing anything about altering patterns xD), but it doesn't stand out as much as I'd feared.
The entry badge for the event was a cloth sticker that you had to stick on yourself, but I don't mind it because then you can see at what event the photos were taken, and the art on it was cute xD And it's way less awkward than having to wear a badge around your neck with a lanyard or clip.
The cosplay area... It's such a surreal sight for everyone to just be hanging out and laughing with each other, considering the relationships between characters xD
I immediately found a Leorio! I was a bit surprised when he pulled out a knife, it looked pretty real... Is that even allowed at the event? xD Love the attention to detail though!
Gon and Killua! There were several of them each, but these two had time to take a picture <3
Kuroro and Hisoka!
These guys seem to be there every year doing some kind of minor characters that nobody else would ever think of cosplaying xD I don't remember their characters' names, but I think they're from the newest manga arc?
Cute Killua and Alluka :3
Kurapika and Senritsu! I don't think I've ever seen such an accurate Senritsu cosplayer before, even her flute was real <3
I found someone with the same outfit! And it was Piyo-san, who was the photographer for the
Main Four photoshoot I participated in in 2019! There was even one more person in the same outfit, but since we'd all handmade our own and the artwork from the old anime isn't very clear on details, the interpretations were all different (especially the type of buttons/cords and how the front part is supposed to open xD) and it was really interesting to compare.
Pitou and Pouf!
Illumi from the movie! I'm glad other people love that outfit, too!
Kuroro and Neon <3
Ponzu! No Pockle this year though...
Another Leorio! This is Hamada-san who I met at previous HxH events! They were running their own circle so we couldn't hang out much, but at 15:00 a cosplay group pic would be taken, so all the cosplayers from the circle area came over to the cosplay area. ^o^
One more because I couldn't choose, all pics look awesome! <3
We were wondering HOW they were going to take a group pic of ALL the cosplayers in the small room that was the cosplay area, but this is how, apparently... xD This is a pic my friend took with her phone, but the official photographer was on a ladder, so hopefully you can see everyone better in that one once they come out >w< Can you find me?
After the group pic, one Kurapika was rounding up all the other Kurapikas to take a group pic with them, so I was happy to participate... There WERE even more, like the two in the same outfit as me, and I also saw a Kurapika in his receptionist disguise, but they must've left the cosplay area immediate after the big group pic, 'cause we couldn't find them ^^;
Stuff I bought... I noticed that a lot of circles were focused on goods other than books this time, like stickers (so many stickers, including ones styled like postage stamps!) actual stamps (the kind with ink), glasses wipes, plushies and acrylic stands, and there was even someone selling a CD of flute covers of HxH music (I'd found some
samples before the event so I knew I wanted it... It wasn't the Senritsu cosplayer though, that would've been even more awesome xD )
Free postcards and papers... I love the one with Gon and Killua's sleeping positions, and the coloring book style picture (I want to color it but I don't have any colored pencils... Time to go to Daiso xD)
One of the circles had an omikuji thing with hand-drawn illustrations, that's such a creative idea! And I drew a Leorio! <3 The fortune is "may your legs grow 5 meters tall"... lol! I don't need any more leg, but it's so funny. I kinda want to see what all the others are. (My friend got Kiriko and "may you be loved by animals and become a better hunter" xD )
Apparently next year's event is actually going to be on September 1st! I can't NOT go to that... My friend and I are already busy making cosplay plans for next year, because after seeing the event this year she wants to cosplay too! (Yay! ^o^ )
