Never let it be said that Bruce Wayne didn't take his responsibilities to the community seriously. Actually, no, let that be said, but only by newspapers and people he wanted to think poorly of him. But he was absolutely willing to put in so hard work here today, even in the kitchen where there would be no cameras. Sure, he hadn't volunteered at this specific location until the last minute, but it turned out that if you were willing to both give a lot of money AND do some hard work, people would be willing to let you help out.
If anyone needed Bruce today, this was where he would be. And it would have to be a pretty major emergency to pull him away early.
