It's been a pretty long while...
Well, yes, I am in Chicago, and have been for two months, but it still kind of feels like I'm not really here. Imagine for a moment, if you will, a vacation where you work 5 days a week. Sound wonderful? Well, that's my life, but I'm not complaining (I mean, I even have two couches! Imagine that!) Living in a city is great for some reasons, and I will list some: I can walk/bus/train just about everywhere (including shows and work), there are a million places to eat that are better than places in Poughkeepsie (and you can eat ouside of most of them), the Jewel-Osco had a 5 for $10 frozen pizza sale, Bob Pollard played a "secret" show here, my neighbors across the alley make sure to tell me about all the rat activity on my window (wait, is that for the "great" list?)...Well, there are other things too, but I can't think of them right now (as if the list I typed out wasn't convincing enough???) I do spend waaaay too much money here, though, and buying groceries is a pain in the ass (yes, we even have one of those old lady carts. You have to!) and orange juice is so fucking expensive. Those are serious drawbacks, but I don't miss Poughkeepsie all that much. I do miss the diner, though. Send it my love, please.
Work is, for the lack of a better word, weird. It's the same, yet different, and I'm not sure if it's better or worse than the way we ran things in New York. I will get back to all of you when I have a better idea. I do like the people I work with and the customers are a little more interesting and a lot nicer than the ones I was used to. Make of that what you will.
That's all for now. I'll tell some better stories next time. Better yet, come over and watch my neighbors. I promise you will not go home disappointed.
