Great job!

I didn't have a team when I showed up at the MMOSH IX kickoff, so I walked around with an "adopt me" sign. My old friend Ashley Lynn took me in, and I was a hobo no more. We didn't have the 100 people that RSVPed on the Facebook event, but we had a good turnout and a lot of newbies. Kyle and David rolled around and fought. Lists were handed out and everyone set off.

Ashley had to pick up our third team member, Dalton, then we went to my house to grab a few items, like a roof shingle. We threw a bagel at Nagle's and had Ashley slapped Dalton in Taco Bell while I put a picture of Ice Cube on the soda machine. We drove to White Castle for some sort of meet-up, and I put the Ice T picture on one of their drink ads. Patrick added a moustache to the "four guys" picture. Ashely's car overheated in the parking lot, so we took a break and I started my artistic representation of Simos, the MMOSH god.

We went to the ATM and were on our way to CD Reunion to look for Spice World on VHS when her car overheated again. We left it in the Schnucks parking lot and walked to Mattingly's. Tom and Adam were there, along with David in his roller blades. Ty, Ian, and Jeremy bought some hot wings to give to Bobby Sanders, who soon arrived to accept his offering. With a broken car and no team to adopt all three of us, Ashley, Dalton, and I went with David to hang out at his house. We helped sort and label trophies for the winners at the end. I looked through the list and did what tasks I could, including prank calling Blockbuster. It went something like this:
"Hey, I can't remember the title of this movie. If I describe it, could you name it for me?"
"Uh, sure."
"It was about this girl, and her boyfriend's a vampire, and her best friend's a werewolf but he's Native American--"
"That's Twilight.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Oh, wait, I remember now! The movie's called Monkeybone!"
"... What?"
"Yeah, Monkeybone!"
"I don't think so."
"No, it was totally Monkeybone. That was the girl's name!"

Joe and Ryan came home and drove donuts in the lawn. They had gotten a snake from somewhere and were keeping in in Ryan's house. A girl named Hailey arrived to be our driver and everybody went to Waffle House.

There was going to be a waffle eating contest, but it wouldn't be fair since some people would get their next waffles before others, so it just became who could eat one waffle the fastest. James' teammate Alex won the Wolverine mask with "waffle beast" written on it. David bought a slice of chocolate pie and gave it away for whatever reason, so I enjoyed that. Hailey took us back to the Schnucks parking lot where Ashley's car had cooled off enough to drive again. We continued to CD Reunion, but they did not have Spice World. Then back to my house to get the vase, and to St. Ferdinand park to fill it with sand. Ashley brought some chicken McNuggets and I put a ribbon through one before sticking in my freezer, so I could have a McNugget medallion. Emily had given me some temporary tattoos, and I shaved Dalton so we could put the puppy on his face. I decorated my family's shopping cart with yards of golden tinsel, and Dalton helped me load it into dad's car for later.

We made a few last minute stops: Walgreens to yell "I CALL UPON THE ZULU NATION!", Quick Trip to draw an "octopussy" on the bathroom mirror (my interpretation was a cat face with tentacles), 711 to fill my Darth Vader cup with banana Slurpee, and St. Sabina's church to put sunglasses on the Virgin Mary statue.

Rendezvous was in the parking lot of the church behind David's house. Mom dropped off the shopping cart chariot. There were a few others, but mine was the best. A few people dropped out along the way, but there was a big crowd. Duffy and his team were all in suits, Bobby Sanders was wearing sports pads, and there were various other costume changes. Kristen shaved her head and actually looked adorable. Major props to her. Everyone dances and frolicked around and marveled at the six-foot-plus boa constrictor Joe had around his body. Lists were turned it, tallied, and then trophies were given out for such titles as "Most Sketch" (for the team who picked up two black guys at a bus stop, had them do tasks with them, and then deserted one at the mall) and whatever it was Emily got for deciding to find a new team and keep going after her team dropped out. My team didn't win anything, probably do to being stranded for most of the day. My brother's team got fourth, having lost to another by one point. The team with Kyle and Kristen won. There was a big sticky group hug, and a call for everyone to go to Denny's, but I don't know who actually made it there.

Mom came to pick up the shopping cart, and I hung out at David's for a while, going through my pictures and trading stories with other players. I ate some leftover Chinese food and stole music off David's computer. I was home by a quarter after 12.

The best part of MMOSH is hearing what other people did. Lots of people made out with graves at the pet cemetery or jumped into the lake at Truman Park. A bunch of people met at China King to run around in their underwear shouting "KUNG PAO CHIKEN IS PEOPLE!". When David went up there, he found Joe and Ryan in their car, naked, with the snake across their laps, listening to "Hotel California". He says it was like something out of a movie.

adventures, mmosh
