I've been cleaning my room lately. It needed it. I pretty much only clean when I'm told, when I have company coming over, and these first few weeks of summer. I started with my desk drawers.
Boy, was that a trip down memory lane. I found a ton of articles from my old Team Rocket/Pokemon obsession, when I was about 12. Lots of fanfics and artwork. I found a lot of my old stories as well, Pokemon fanfiction and my Lost re-write.
Around the end of season one, I had the idea to re-write episodes of Lost in an IM, chat room style, with screennames for all the characters, netspeak, and bad spelling. I actually did the first six episodes, and started on the seventh. They were really fun, and not half bad. I might do them again. (I wrote them on a really old computer that only used floppies, and the computer and said floppies won't work anymore. But if you really want to read them, I could retype the printouts I have left.)
I found the old "Anime Interviews" Shelby used to write, and a sci-fi story by my friend Jon. (Who knew hospital storage closets had flash grenades?) In some of my old classes, the teachers would have all the students write down something positive about all the other students, and I found some of those. The fifth grade ones were really funny--I'm Melissa, but apparently one kid thought my name was Malssa. (I got Mitla once on a yearbook.)
(An explanation: Back in my preteen years, I would write stories, mostly about my Vampires from Pluto. Yes. Specifically, one named Harlock. He had blue skin and purple hair, wore a cape, and wasn't very bright. His companion was a tiny pink-haired fairy named Sassie. Ah, the mind of a ten-year-old anime freak. With a little work, I might ressurect them someday.)
Some of my favorite compliments...
"Melissa is nice and plays on the swings."
"Melisa very creative"
"Melissa has good vimpires from pluto"
"I like how Melissa makes her stories."
"Melissa is a very writing and bright girl."
"I like your vampier storys." (This is the Malssa one.)
"Melissa--she writes a lot."
"I love Melissa pluto story"
"Melissa have me laugh on her stories"
"I like you because your bunny" (Honestly, that's what it says. Bunny.)
And one of them spelled stories "storyies".
I also found one from my 7th grade English class. Typical stuff: smart, helpful, creative, writes good stories. But apparently I had one girl convinced that I spoke Japanese. Sorry, Gabby. I don't.
