It still very pretty in them there mountains. Here is some color to brighten your day, and an excuse to use my Jack-O-Lantern icon.
These were taken over the past few couple of weeks in and around the Cumberland, Maryland area. The colors are mostly as is, only a tiny bit of saturation and filter to take out atmospheric dust, etc. All of the ones that are horizontal aspect ratio are sized 1024 x 768 to work as desktop wallpapers for your computer. Just right click on it, hit view image and then you will be at the full sized one. Enjoy.
This next one is interesting. Take a look at that house on the ridge in the distance. I bet they have a great view. Taken from a parking lot outside of Frostburg, MD.
This one needs a comment as well. You will note the hawk in the lower right corner of the image. We had pulled up to this hilltop cemetery that we like to visit on Parkersburg Road, on Federal Hill, outside of Mount Savage. It is an amazing old tiny graveyard with tombstones dating to the 18th century. But what we are usually there for is the view. We can see all of our mountain, Big Savage Mountain from there and 365 degrees of view. When we pulled up the other day, this hawk was hunting the fields, real low, up and down on just over the tops of the hay grasses growing there. It was really close to us when we pulled up, but by the time I got the camera out, this was the shot I got.
Here is another shot of that Hawk with Big Savage Mountain in the background. That is our valley just behind the mid-ground ridge. The open fields on the mountain are just above our home. I hope to get up to a point where I can see the house from this ridge someday.
Here is an image of the hill behind the cemetery, with a tombstone urn in the foreground.
I should identify this shot. It is the same rock outcropping and ridge as the first picture. This is known as the
Cumberland Narrows. It is always a lovely and dramatic drive into town through there. These were both taken from the van, at a stop light of course.
And the last bit of Autumn glory. My Green Man collection come home to the house. Not as pretty as the rest of the leaves, but it means a lot to me.
Just to note, the Jack-O-Lantern Icon I used is one of mine I carved. I have a secret passion for
pumpkins.
May you all have a Happy Halloween!
Kubiando!
