So, my parents won a 9 lbs turkey in a golf tournament. Their club was founded by Americans stationed in my area after WWII so it's kind of an unspoken rule that the bird be prepared American style. The thing is that while my mum is a fantastic cook and has tons of practise cooking duck and goose, we have no idea of how to prepare the turkey, or what goes with it. The only ideas we have are vague and based on TV and films.

We'd be very grateful for any advice as to how to prepare the turkey, and what to serve with it.
